Dunne has also served the Victorian community with distinction. The premiership Richmond player went on to have a 39 year, highly distinguished career in the Victorian Police Force culminated in him serving as Assistant Commissioner, until his retirement in 2015. 

Richmond President Peggy O’Neal said Dunne was a most worthy recipient of AFL Life Membership.

“Emmett has selflessly served the game in a variety of roles for nearly 50 years. He is a man of great integrity and humility and remains a very active and valuable contributor to the game as a current Director and the Vice-President of the Richmond Football Club.

“Emmett’s leadership at board level has been instrumental in enabling our recent successes, both on and off field.

“The game and our Club are better for having Emmett involved.”
