Other players who played yesterday deserve far greater criticism than Thompson. For example Hopper who played a really poor game.

Fair call but who the stuff is Thompson?

Was unsighted yesterday but did well to back up again the VFL today.... :shh

Opinion is divided on this guy it seems.  I myself believe he just does not get enough of the ball.
Hope I'm wrong, just don't see him being a long term player, even though his skills are excellent

I think as he develops he can find more of the ball.
Least of our concerns

Come on people he's 19 ffs.

Rookie drafted.

Missed lots of 2023 with juvenile injuries.

Played 20 games averaging 11+ touches, 0.5 goals and 2 tackles.

Far from our top 20 problems.

Had a good year as far as games played goes. Also showed a lot of good glimpses. A 19 yo rookie pick with some good attributes for the level im not sure what peoples expectations were but he showed more than enough.
Legit criticism he needs to find more of the ball. Its not a put down its just an area he needs to work on and improve significantly.

Needs to work on size and strength needs to lay more  tackles and be more involved with out the ball.

Hopefully he builds on 2024 next year.

They all have things that need work.

Moving magnets: The positional change to watch at Richmond

A rookie pick at the end of 2022, Seth Campbell made an impression playing mostly forward for the Tigers last year, kicking 10 goals in 21 games. But the 20-year-old has already been given some more responsibility this pre-season, spending time training with the midfield group in what could be a sign of things to come.

Come on Dio, it's a praccy match haha.

Kids has shown plenty and I think he'll do better in '25 with another preseason under his belt and when we get some mature bodies back in around him.

Learning to play through the mid-field

Did a few things that didn't get mentioned in commentary because they were too noisy talking about anything but the game

Seth on SEN: [11 min interview]

AUDIO: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/NTETP9385767300?selected=NTETP8928579035

---------------------------------------------------------

Tigers head over heels for Seth

Sam Lonergan tipped this . . .

When the Richmond development coach presented young Tiger Seth Campbell with the Cosgrove-Jenkins award, as the Club’s best first year player at last year’s Jack Dyer Medal presentation night, he declared: “This young man is going to provide us with many highlights, I can assure you of that. He’s going to be a highlights package of energy and excitement. And he’s got great work ethic, dedication, along with great spirit . . . He’s going to be a long-term player and a key part of our future.”

Campbell’s scorching run and match-sealing soccered goal for the Tigers in last Thursday night’s Round 1 victory over Carlton at the MCG, followed by a spectacular celebration – a cartwheel and backflip – was an energetic, exciting highlights package of the highest order. And it sent the Tiger Army into raptures.

“I joked before the game that the right time I’d do the backflip . . . We spoke about it last year, but there wasn’t really a scenario to pull the backflip out . . . I thought that was the right place and time,” Campbell said on SEN.

“I’ve been doing back flips since I was a kid, but never really pulled it out in games . . . I was a bit up and about . . . I was pumped. So, I just pulled it out. Thought it was the right time.”

So, would he do it again?

“If there’s 80,000 at the ‘G, and it’s a scenario like that, probably yeah,” he replied.

Aside from the now famous match-sealing goal and dazzling gymnastics display, the talented forward was a valuable contributor throughout the match for Richmond with another goal and seven tackles.

‘SHINING LIGHT’ FOR TIGERS IN ‘UGLY’ UNRAVELLING

Seth Campbell kicked three goals from five scoring shots and looked the Tigers’ most likely offensive threat all afternoon.

Campbell’s liveliness around the sticks gave St Kilda early headaches as the Tigers went toe-to-toe with the hosts.

“The willingness of Richmond’s youngsters to compete has been super impressive,” Demons great Garry Lyon told the Fox Footy broadcast at half-time.

Campbell would’ve had a fourth if not reversed after a score review revealed slight contact with the post, but his impact wasn’t lost on observers.

“I love his finishing … there’s a shining light for the Tigers, he’s managed to be competitive,” Dunstall said of the 20-year-old’s efforts.

"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”
