THE ASPECT OF THE LYNCH AND RIEWOLDT PARTNERSHIP THAT BOB MURPHY LOVES

BY SEN
16 April 2021

Former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy has praised Jack Riewoldt and Tom Lynch as a pairing and the chemistry they have developed.

Lynch moved from Gold Coast to Richmond at the end of the 2018 season and he has been the focal point in two successive Grand Final runs.

While we have seem more dominant key forward pairings in AFL history, Murphy believes the Tiger duo are working on a level we rarely see.

“They might not be the best ever key forward combo, but their chemistry for two who have only been at it a few years is quite something to behold,” Murphy told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“They never jump in each other’s way.

“It might be more because of Tom Lynch, coming into the environment. That was one of the question marks going back. ‘Oh, you’re bringing Tom in, but you’ve just win a flag with Jack and the mosquito fleet around him’.

“When do you ever see them jump for the same footy together? Hardly ever. They’re often one-on-one.”

Lynch and Riewoldt combined for eight goals in the Tigers’ dominant win over St Kilda on Thursday night.
