Your review of how the Tiges are going so far this season?
« on: June 17, 2021, 04:57:28 AM »
Bye week so it's probably a good time to do a bit of a review of where we all see the Tiges are at:

1) What have you liked about the Tiges so far this year?

2) What haven't you liked / where do we still need to improve?

3) Individually, who has impressed and/or surprised you so far this year?

4) Who has been disappointing and/or has not come on as you had hoped/expected?

Loved the introduction of a few kids, CCJ,RCD,Hugo etc the regeneration has started.

Haven't like our drop in skills and turnovers or also brain fades need to get rid of them there costing us games.

CCJ has impressed me and RCD.Bolton out of experience players.

Short has been most disappointing for me expected better from him considering last year and George lost his mojo pressure and intensity.

1. before the season started we needed to find out how the kids would hold up as we have some interesting list management decisions this year and in the coming few years. The injuries are tough but they have allowed us to see the next generation and we have something to work on.
2. the errors that have crept in this year, especially from the experienced guys. Have to minimize these or we are just making up numbers in the final 8
3. Chol has surprised me and still has levels to go if he ever gets his head around playing 4 quarters each game. Bolton used to be like that, not any more, star
4. Thought Balta would show improvement to star level this year. Has been playing well enough but think he can go higher. He is 21 so plenty of time. He just might develop normally and not to my unrealistic expectations

1) What have you liked about the Tiges so far this year?

Seeing some fresh faces coming through. RCD impressed ditto so has CCJ.

2) What haven't you liked / where do we still need to improve?
the margin of some of the losses, we've been blown away.

Also, the increase in errors of the basic fundamentals.... Apart from probably Dreamtime and the Doggies game we really haven't put together any 4 qtr games

3) Individually, who has impressed and/or surprised you so far this year?

Nathan Broad's form. I reckon he has taken another step up, which I didn't expect at all.

Jake Aarts when he plays within his limitations has been a pleasant surprise. Been our best small forward so far

4) Who has been disappointing and/or has not come on as you had hoped/expected?

Incredibly disappointed with our small forwards, especially Rioli and to a lesser extent Castagna. Of all the 3 small forwards Castagna has copped the most attention, couple of games he's actually been tagged, so I give him some leeway.

Rioli on the other hand has been poor in nealry ever game he's played apart from the odd cameo. He is without doubt our 2021 "Cameo King"
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

1) What have you liked about the Tiges so far this year?

Win against the scum cheats. Still the best thing next to winning premierships.

2) What haven't you liked / where do we still need to improve?

Inside F50 entries, Rioli. Castagna. Poor skills. Lack of pressure intensity.
All of these need a lot of improvement.

3) Individually, who has impressed and/or surprised you so far this year?

CCJ has been the biggest surprise. RCD did better than I expected but I still am not convinced but hopefully he comes on. I didn’t mind Mansell he mightn’t amount to anything but I did like the spice he showed.

4) Who has been disappointing and/or has not come on as you had hoped/expected?

Leaders - this season most of our leaders have lacked composure and had really bad moments in games - this probably happened in other years but I’ve noticed it more this year than in the last 4 years.

Chol - still no tank? He’s increased his capacity from about 6 minutes to 30 minutes a game. He has so much to like about his development but how many preseasons does it take to play a full game of footy?
He’s much more aerobic than Nankervis and Soldo put together but unlike them he can’t impact a full game.
The club that keeps giving.
