After only two finals appearances in 31 torturous years - I will happily donate a medal to the coach who seems destined to take us to the finals 3 years in a row.

Bump

So now it sits at 100 wins 2 draws and 90 losses for Damien . Includes 3 final wins and a premiership.

Should overtake Fremantle and be the 7th best team of the decade by the end of the season.  Maybe 6th if Adelaide falls in a hole .

Not bad considering we started the decade worse than Fitzroy.

It's funny I have never thought he was a great tactical coach but rather a man manager.  Yet we did both those things really well last year. As a developer of players I thought he has been good too but even though we won the flag I have never considered our list A class.  He has done well and I think got lucky with a few things.

For the first time in Richmond’s history, it has the competition’s longest-serving coach.

Alastair Clarkson’s departure from Hawthorn at the end of the 2021 season leaves Damien Hardwick as AFL football’s most experienced coach currently.

Hardwick will be entering his 13th season as the Tigers’ coach in 2022, which is one more than Chris Scott at Geelong and John Longmire with Sydney.

The triple Richmond premiership coach has guided the Tigers in 274 games all-up, placing him a clear No. 1 at Punt Road for total games coached, ahead of Tommy Hafey with 248 games and then Jack Dyer, 222 games.

Winning three flags in four years is enough to buy you an eternity in the head coach’s job if he wants it. He brings an immutable smugness to the head coaching role that gets the best out of his players. However the attrition of age has begun to set in with stalwarts like Bachar Houli and David Astbury retiring while fringe key forwards like Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol have forced their way out.
