Summary
* Ambitions for the next decade?
3-0-75 plan had its time and its place. We've moved past that. We were at the bottom and need to create a sense of urgency. We just want to be a strong and bold premiership club. That doesn't mean we will win it every year but we want to have the resources and capabilities to be able to challenge. Richmond over its history has had this boom-bust approach. We'll have our moment in the sun then drop away. Prior to our recent success we had a 37 year drought. We want a club that is really well governed, well managed, well resourced and gives its coaches, players and teams a chance to compete and win premierships.
* Soft cap stance?
Our position has been clear. We weren't enthusiastic at the time [about the cuts]. We worked hard to set up a program that delivered strong results. We knew the things that mattered and were prepared to invest in that and get the results we were seeking. Then all of a sudden we had to contract that by 35% which ultimately is people. We found it hard. Soft Cap is really a positive initiative for the code. But we just felt the severity and the suddenness of the cuts was really difficult to manage. It does seem we are doing twice as much with a lot less and it's really really hard. Love footy and it's fantastic but it's been very hard to manage this transition. Benny said he is worried about the pressures being brought to bear on all people involved in clubs; not just the senior coaches.
* Covid?
We [as an industry] are going to push through the season. We'll take the precautions and do the risk management that we need to do but we're pushing through.
* Who is in charge of promoting each game?
Typically it's the home team that promotes each game. We have a share agreement with Carlton. So there's collaboration between clubs for big games like round 1.
