Richmond is going to have a key forward problem in the future

Tom Lynch is only sidelined for another match or two with his hamstring issue, but his absence against Sydney revealed a lack of key forward depth. The Tigers opted for a smaller attack, bringing in Jack Graham and using a resting ruck in Ivan Soldo or Toby Nankervis as the second tall. They were able to catch the Swans out when playing their quick, scrambling style, but struggled to match them in the air. Jack Riewoldt will be 34 in October, and after the unexpected double departures of Mabior Chol (Gold Coast) and Callum Coleman-Jones (North Melbourne) last year, there are no developing key talls on the list.

I believe we have our future tall on the list already, Gibcus. Has all the tools to be a top performer in the front half. With one of Miller and Biggie succeeding down back along with Balta, this would leave us a nice spine to work with.
I would still draft another tall or two in this years draft but the above looks good to me.

Agree. But this kid may be that good to play anywhere.
I’d try him up forward too has an excellent verticals leap.

All his development should be front half IMO
The club that keeps giving.

Lol only now are media hacks realising the problem.Surely they remember 2017 when there was only JR.

People are kidding themselves if they think we are only one kpp short on the list.Fmd even when we are all fit the reserves side is two key forwards down every week.
WE have both Miller and Nyuon who we have seen fit to take off the list proper and rookie. That rarely happens to players clubs are really sure about. They were that unsure they went and got Tarrant. We can all see where the WCE are at right now and that has come about because they could not be honest and acknowledge the list had run its course at the end of 2018.

Our list while still competetive has run its course it happened in 2020 we were never going to get another flag out of them. Yet here we are two years later still talking of flags something the eagles have done until reality really bit em on the arse.

No one talks about the aborted Balta move forward. They lost their balls instead of persevering they poo themselves.

As for Gibcus yes he has great attributes but go and look at his junior reports he struggled when he was played fwd.

In an ideal world Balta and Gibcus would form our defensive spine with another big kpd coming thru as well. But we dont live in an ideal world and you have to plan accordingly.

If Miller and Nyuon are the real deal then for gods sake get games into em. If RC-D  is the real deal then play him for the rest of the season.
FFs blokes like Stack need to be playedDow needs to get games we just are not doing it we are still thinking about flags and that can really come back and bite just ask the eagles.

So you wanted the eagles as reigning premiers at the end of 2018 and us as reigning premiers at the end of 2020 to shut up shop and start the rebuild when coming off winning the flag as the best team in the comp? In what world would anyone have made that decision and based on what evidence? I can understand if you said eagles at the end of 2019 and us at the end of 2021 but the year prior…..please…..no reigning premier ever has and no reigning premier ever will make such a call.

And you keep talking about balta being moved back down to defence. It’s not an aborted move, in fact if he wasn’t injured right now I would almost garauntee he would be filling in for lynch up fwd. fact of the matter is, the 3 tall fwd line wasn’t working and his move down back replacing Tarrant is what fit the team best.

The way Gibcus led to the footy to take the mark and kick the goal looked Michael Roachesq. Not saying hes the next Roach but he knows how to lead , we know he can fly for marks question is can he outbuscle a big full back. If he needs to put on weight, will he lose his speed? Will he lose his agility and flexibility but just off that one lead Id like to see him play up forward for a game or two.

No one knows if he can play or not. Will he be a star or another Richard Lounder?
