'Spy' says Balta may be doubtful this week. So, we may down another key tall against Hawkins and Cameron :help.

If so, then Young and/or Bauer will definitely come in.

That isn't a surprise

He hobbled around a bit after copping a kick in the shin in the 1st qtr

Had it taped and his sock pulled up for the remainder of the game

It's only Wednesday, I reckon Balta will be fine.

Otherwise I guess we'd have to play Grimes, Young, Broad and just hope we don't get smashed in the middle too much.

In the Mix: Round 9

Trent Cotchin should be ready to go after a week off.

Noah Cumberland has seemingly fallen from favour after a few patchy games. He was given a late reprieve as cover for Ivan Soldo (foot), before being subbed off.

Soldo himself needs to get through training this week, as does Tylar Young (leg) to be available for selection to face Geelong.

Hugo Ralphsmith looms as the one to give way for Young.

Richmond's VFL side had a bye last weekend, meaning Tyler Sonsie was unable to press his case for a possible recall.

Rhyan Mansell was lively in his time on the field after being subbed on, but could be the one to make way for Cotchin.

'Spy' says Balta was part of the Captain's Run this morning but hard to tell if he is fully right or not as it's a light session and they don't do much anyway. Biggie and Young were out there too, so guessing one is a back-up if Balta fails to come up.

Added to last week's 23: Biggie, Cotch, Sonsie and Young.

Dropped from 23/not present: Cumberland.

Dimma in his presser confirmed Cotch will be back for Friday night and Cumberland has been dropped to the VFL.

Dimma also said they are "umming and ahhing" about playing Young. Haven't had match committee yet but Young is in the squad.

Riewoldt is due for a 'rest' given the three six-day breaks but keeps putting his hand up.

No Soldo. Not right yet. Bigger blokes take longer with foot injuries, so we need to be cautious.

Esava is on a roll so if we don’t play Jack, he’s gonna have a field day repelling our entries because we have no one else with decent forward craft. That being said i pencilled this I’m as a more than guaranteed loss so probably better to rest him now than say a winnable game
