Richmond: A decade of drama and disappointment - Nothin' Like The 90s

Under legendary coach Tom Hafey, Richmond won 4 premierships between 1967 and 1974. There would be another flag in 1980, but in a sign of things to come coach Tony Jewell was sacked 18 months later, with his replacement Francis Bourke suffering the same fate despite making the 1982 Grand Final. By the start of the 90’s the once powerful Tigers were wounded, almost fatally.

Jeff Gieschen departed Punt Rd at the end of 1999.

Two legends were on Richmond's radar to take over the vacant coaching position.
