Hyperthetical (or how ever you spell it) best 22
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:30:06 PM »
I was wondering this morning how far off our best 22 is this weeks team.

You know, the 22 on our list that you would send on to the paddcok every week if you could. Now this is very difficult to pick this 22 this year as there have been so many players used. Some have put in the odd good game, some we saw very little of due to injury, and some that are just bordlerline anyway. So I set up some critera to help pick the team.

1. Its the top 22 now. I don't care if they are injured.
2. Its not about development for the future. Playing a player so he will get better next year is not what this is about.
3. It based on what you have seen of the player this season no mater how little it was.

That said, here is my 22

B: Raines, Gaspar, J.Bowden
HB: Newman,Thursfiled, Kellaway
C: Deledio, Couglin, P.Bowden
HF: Polo, Richardson, Pettifer
F: Brown, Schulz, Tambling
FOLL: Simmonds, Johnson, Tuck
I/C: Knobel, Meyer, Hyde, Foley

Close but not quite : Patterson, Krakour, Tivendale

Given that , well we are only 4 players off our best side possible this week so we should be very close.

Now guys   pick it apart, I would love to see what everyone else thinks.

Good effort FT and it's hard to disagree with most of your best 22. The only main change I would make if we are basing selections on this season is Meyer out and either Tivs or Krak in. Now without trying to turn this in another Krak vs Tivs thread  :-X, ability wise in order IMHO is Meyer > Krak > Tivs but in terms of reliability/consistency this year Tivs > Krak > Meyer. Danny needs to add another 6kgs over summer again before he is ready to  :thumbsup.

The other thing that stands out is the lack of pace of our main ballwinners - Cogs, Tuck and Sugar. All easily in our best 22and our best midfielders but not a gamebreaker amongst them. We are still waiting for Lids and co. to take up their spots in the kitchen. If White can develop nicely in defence next year that may also allow Rainesy to play more in the midfield.

You are right about that. I found that last spot very very difficult. The main reason I left the both out was the the fact I didn't want to make this another TIV/Krak thread either.  ::)

I think I like Rainsy exactly where he is.  Think A.Mcleod or or or (I can't hink of other example atm) . he is perfect for the drive our of the back.

I don't disagree. I just wish sometimes we had someone in the middle whose instinct is to kick rather than handball. Rainsey doesn't stuff around with the footy.

Fine effort Supercoach :bow

A good representation of youth and experience :thumbsup

What we as Tiger supporters have to realise there is no quick-fix to our present situation. At the moment there are players being selected who because of their youth would not be considered at this time in their careers at the more successful clubs.

It is quite clear that there are some team members in the middle aged bracket(in football terms)who are not quite 'up to it' however they are a legacy from the past and we have to live with them for a little longer until the present recruiting plan reaches fruition.

In my opinion the results over the two seasons that this plan has been in operation have far outweighed expectation and when our goal has been reached it will not be for the short term but rather like the ending to a fair :invasiony tale " they all lived happily ever after"  :invasion
