Brodie Holland - 5 weeks
« on: September 12, 2006, 12:08:27 AM »
What a shame :rollin

-----------------

Holland was offered a five-match suspension by the panel but if not for his previous poor record would have only been facing a three-match ban.

The panel assessed the incident as intentional conduct, high impact, in play and high contact - which equates to a base points tally of 425 or a four-match ban.

But because Holland has served a total of five matches in suspensions in the past three years, his tally rose to 595 points and with another 96.88 residual points added on from another prior in the past 12 months, Holland's tally rose to a massive 691.88 points - or nearly a seven-match suspension.

It will be this tally he will be risking if he chooses to fight the panel's decision at the tribunal on Tuesday night but if the Magpies accept the charge and receive the 25 per cent points discount, Holland will end up with 518.91 points and a five-match sanction.

But that could still result in the Magpie star missing the first five rounds of the 2007 home and away season.

What Holland did was inexcusable. bad luck the system does not allow for a Minimum 8 week ban for if such instances are not wiped out of the game star players will become open slather.
There was no intent other than to maim the attacked player with the intention of (a) taking one of the opposition out of the game for the match & (b) starting an all in brawl to upset the opposition and take their mind off the game from the beginning to gain a team advantage.
History shows that to be typical Collingwood tactics.

All that effort by the Pies for an appeal and it gets dismissed by the tribunal in just 7 minutes  :lol. The 6 weeks suspension stands.

Pies consider Holland bid
16 September 2006   Herald-Sun
Bruce Matthews

COLLINGWOOD hasn't ruled out a legal challenge to the Brodie Holland verdict.

Football manager Neil Balme emphasised yesterday that the club had not conceded defeat nor resigned itself to losing Holland for the first six home-and-away rounds next season.

On the possibility of legal action, Balme said: "In reality that's all that's left. But we have to sit down and try and look through how we view it and get advice on it.
