Perth's new 60k footy stadium

Perth's new football stadium at Burswood will run from east-to-west, be among the longer grounds in the competition and could eventually hold crowds of 80,000.

Premier Colin Barnett today announced key features of the stadium, which has a preliminary budget of $700 million and is set to be completed for the 2018 AFL season.

Among the features announced by the state government today:
* an east-west alignment, the same as Patersons Stadium and meeting requirements of the International Cricket Council.

* dimensions of 165 metres in length and 130 metres in width. Patersons Stadium's current dimensions are 175 metres by 122 metres.
   
* an initial capacity of 60,000, with a design that would allow this to be expanded to 70,000 or even 80,000 with the placement of extra seats along the wings.

The stadium will have the third biggest capacity in the nation, and will become the second biggest AFL home stadium.

way overdue

had an email / survey a couple of months ago asking what I would like to  have at the new stadium, seating access to and from etc etc
 personally think looking to the future that  60k is too conservative  but atleast it will be better that the relic that is Patterson Stadium

Building an 80000K seater stadium would be much more feasible and fan friendly.
