Player review: 41. Nathan Foley
« on: November 18, 2006, 03:37:07 AM »
Axel is up next. Foley played 21 out of 22 games in his second year after being promoted off the rookie list last year. Over the whole year he averaged just under 16 disposals and 3 marks per game but it was the second half of 2006 where he stood out averaging 19 disposals. This follows just the 6 matches at 9 possessions per game in 2005.

How did we rate Axel's 2006 and at 177cm and 71kg will he be a long term insider midfielder?

Foley's 2006 stats:

Looks more like a footballer than he did last year.

Must have a good attitude because he seemed to improve on his game from last year, which no doubt helped him maintain his spot in the team.  Not sure about the long term future for any player really, but deserves his spot for now.

Noticed, on several occasions through the season, after winning the footy, that he hasn't panicked under pressure and instead held onto the ball for the right option to present itself.

Love him.

Show real promise as an inside mid last year and if he continues to improve could be our big surprise packet.

Great attitude too. Go Axel!

Exceptionally quick hands - in the clinches I reckon he is our best handballer under pressure  :clapping

Needs to work on his disposal by foot - it's his biggest weakness I reckon

I just really enjoy watching him play, no fear, will take on anyone and has that don't argue attitude
