Howat to be promoted and play round 1
« on: March 04, 2007, 10:40:32 PM »
Not earth-shattering news but Plough let out the fact Cam will be playing round 1.

Quote
"We brought up a good half a dozen of our regular midfield, Nathan Foley, Cam Howat, Brett Deledio, Kane Johnson, Richard Tambling," he said after the team arrived in Canberra yesterday.

"They will all play in the centre come round one ..."

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing all 22 games this year, then we'll all be scratching our heads wondering why he was even rookie listed at all for 2007.

So can someone clarify the rookie situation for me now that Cam has been promoted.
Can any other rookies ie Jake and Angus get promoted this season aside from a season ending injury to a listed senior? If I had my way these two would be promoted quick smart and players like collins and Peterson would be more likely to be on my rookie list.

tiga, you can only promote a rookie midseason if a senior listed player goes onto the long-term injury list for a minimum of 8 weeks (you might be able to do it too if a player retires during the year). Most likely by round 1, both Petersen and Cogs will be placed on the long-term injury list allowing us the choice of promoting up to two rookies if we wish.  The likely scenario is Howat will be promoted just prior to the round 1 and then there's an extra spot available for us if Gus or Jake show good form with Coburg.

3 Brett Deledio
17 Kane Johnson
30 Richard Tambling
41 Nathan Foley
43 Cameron Howat

... good to see ... but don't expect them to dominate straight away ...

the MAJOR problem is defensive play ...

you can add Tuck into that centre ... and maybe Hyde ... Tivendale on the wing ...

there is our 8 midfielders ...

Foley - Rover, Ruck Rover
Deledio - Centre
Johnson - Rover, Centre
Tuck - Rover, Ruck Rover Centre
Tambling - Wing
Howat - Wing
Tivendale - Wing
Hyde - Rover

- Coughlan ... is really 9 !

... i just hope these 9 or 8 players come up with some GREAT plans that work and just feature dominantly in the midfield come NOW ...

Raines, Newman, Collins, Connors are the next players into that midfield ...

We can throw in Polo into that group as well.

We need to add more class into the midfield looking at those 8-9 names plus at least another 3 to 4 to our midfield group. The best sides can rotate 12 or so players through their midfield.
