How did you assess last Saturday’s practice match against Melbourne?* Lack of experience (on avg 3 years and 32 games less)
* Poor goal conversion
* Played 2 good quarters, 2 poor ones
* 6 of Melbourne's 8 first half goals came from our turnovers. Over-handballing and running ourselves into trouble.
* B+ for intensity and work ethic. D- for finishing skills.
From an individual perspective, what were some of the positives out of the game?* Petts took 14 marks
* Tucky and Foley got heaps of it but didn't use the footy well.
* Meyer played the first half in the curtain raiser then kicked 2 and assisted in another in a 2nd quarter spark.
* Newy and Rainesy continued to impress at HB
* Schulz took 7 marks. Should have kicked 4 and not just 2.
* King solid on Aaron Davey
* Polak showed he can play at either end. Will play defence when Richo and Simmo come back.
* Special mention to McGuane.
Who was prominent from a Richmond perspective in the Coburg Tigers intra-club curtain-raiser to the main game last Saturday?* Paddy with 7 goals. People would say he should as a mature player dominated but we got him cheap in the draft.
* Tambo played because he didn't realise training was on. It was a mistake but we have rules. Head and shoulders above the rest which is someone he hasn't done at VFL level before.
How did some of the Richmond newcomers go in the early game?* Edwards kicked goal of the year and did some nice cameos. Sees in the next couple of years Edwards and Riewoldt turning 4 nice things into 8-9 to 15 nice things per game.
* Collins also impressed again.
