While the Tigers have not reached the finals since 2001, the club has recovered well off the field since the dreadful wooden spoon season of 2004 - when the club lost more than $2 million.

But March appealed to fans to stick by the club saying that any drop off in crowd numbers could cost the club up to $500,000 in lost gate receipts this season.

"We made a profit of about $1 million last year and were hoping for a similar profit this year but there is no doubt this is going to hurt us a lot," he said.

"We will still make a profit but not as much as were expecting but if members want us to put more money into areas such as recruiting and player development then we really need them to stick by us."

I think we're actually lucky we're away from Victoria from two weeks. A couple of gutsy performances over in SA and people might forget the geelong game a little.

The game isn't on FTA TV this week so if we play like that again at least we won't have to see it but if we do put in a gutsy effort we'll be spewing that we missed it. We know we are undermanned but all we want is for the whole team to have a dip.

Doh!  Thanks Jake. I thought no squealing from Eddie meant the Pies v Blues would be on FTA. Ch 10 obviously going for the ratings bonanza  .
