Polo on Tarrant .... thoughts?

Quote
From the West Australian:

The Tigers’ training session at Punt Road yesterday [Thursday] morning was clearly tailored for their Subiaco visit, with exercises promoting hard running and ball-carrying.

Coach Terry Wallace’s one-on-one instructions for Dean Polo, which appeared to be designed for playing against a taller opponent, may have been a sign that the 20-year-old will be a surprise match-up for Fremantle forward Chris Tarrant.

Former Kangaroos premiership star David King, a renowned defensive sweeper and now Richmond assistant coach, also signalled the Tigers could play Graham Polak and Andrew Raines as loose men in defence as he spent several minutes going through strategies with them following the session.

However, Raines appeared to be favouring his left groin when he kicked or sprinted off the mark.

Tigers forwards also did drills against extra defenders, suggesting their tactics may leave spare Fremantle defenders in their own attacking zone.

-----------
Fremantle want umpires to take a closer look at how new rule interpretations are affecting their giant ruckman Aaron Sandilands after he has received only three free kicks in the past six matches.

Though it is understood the Dockers have made no formal complaint to AFL umpires boss Jeff Gieschen, they are believed to be particularly unhappy about opposing ruckmen continually charging into Sandilands without their eyes on the ball at ruck contests, as was clearly evident against Collingwood last Friday night.

Sandilands, the competition’s tallest player at 211cm, has also struggled to win free kicks in marking duels, despite strict rules forbidding opponents from chopping arms or putting their hands on an opponent’s back.

Sandilands received 12 free kicks in the first five games and the Dockers want answers as to why they have suddenly dried up. The issue has been scrutinised at the club’s weekly umpiring reviews.

One-on-one instructions could mean anyone. Freo have a few tall midfielders as well - Matthew Carr and Mundy on a wing. You'd expect Thursty to get Tarrant.

As for WA sides complaining about the umpiring  ::). Like they're not given enough frees as it is.

I wouldn't worry, Tarrant will probably kick himself out of the game  ::)
