What is really amazing that 66% of supporters thought we would make the eight ::)  . Either they dont follow they game or have become to beleive in the pre-season spin doctoring ::)

here we go again

xXx
I honestly find it amazing that the expectations of supporters was so high.
Sorry if you offended

Not offended as does anyone treat these polls with any seriousness. Every one of these preseason polls no matter what club usually favour finals. Most clubs with their best 22 on the park every week and at top form would be able to sneak into the 8. Many mediocre sides in the AFL including the ones that just scrape into the finals. These sides usually have poor depth so if they cop a few injuries to key players or players drop away in form, fitness, etc then down they go. Melbourne the perfect example.

I thought we could make the eight at the beginning of the season.  Not because I thought we were so great, but based on where we finished the year before and the fact I didn't rate many other teams (still don't).  We've been pretty competitive, except we haven't won.
So it's been a disappointing year, but hardly surprising when you're rebuilding a club from top to bottom, you're without your ruck division which hardly anyone seems to acknowledge, your seniors are useless or not available and you just have young exciting kids who seem to be carrying the side.
Unless we can do some miraculous recruiting at the end of the year, next year I expect much the same as we lose more seniors and get more kids.
After that I think we should start climbing the ladder again and see us winning again.  Unless of course we get another coach who thinks topping up a list with past-their-used-by-date players is the way to go which a certain individual loves to do  :banghead

I am hoping for 5th to 8th - likely 7

But gee after yesterday I'm think 9th-12th - likely 10th

Feeling this way at the moment simply because of our skills - in particular turnovers - we have way way too many. The other things is our runnng is not hard enough run out of the backline and maybe that has something to do with the fact that when we come storming out of the back half there is no one up forward because our entire team is in the back half of the ground  :banghead

But .....

If everythng is working and everyone is playing well then it's a different story.

So simple answer for now is - give me a week to think :rollin about it

:cheers :cheers gee I hedged me bets beautifully there  :clapping

I thought we'd make the 8 but new that everything had to be spot on - the stars need to be aligned. Nothing seems to been aligned this season on the injury front - no numero uno ruck, no backup rucks, no class player (read brown) until round 12  :-\ - see the stars just haven't aligned :thumbsup

Can you see Uranus?
Apparently got Terry Wallace's boot mark on it and has aligned with the man from Mars.  8)
