Just finished watching Joel "On the Couch" - thought he presented and conducted himself really well.

Interesting that he thought Richo should be back in a leadership role.

Best thing he said was that although he understood people's frustrations he believed we needed stability and everyone working and moving in the same direction.

Better give Mr Pahoff a call Joel - maybe he'll listen to you ;)

Back in 2001, Joel was seen as Captain material.  Three seasons on and he’s become one of the most maligned players in the game.

Seeing the interview makes you wonder why he hasn't lived up to those expectations, because he certainly presents well and seems to have Richmond at heart.

Sad state of affairs when such potential and ability seemingly hasn’t been made full use of, especially when we there is such a lack of on-field leadership at the Club.

Seeing that interview I can understand why Bowden hasn't lived up to expectations.

He has a touch of arrogance, which makes him think he is better than what he actually is.

Comes through in his style of play as well.

Very well spoken and articulate though.

Aint that the truth.

Makes you wonder about others who have been touted as leaders (e.g. Ottens, Richo, and even Rodan) where they would be as not only leaders but players as well if we had better nuturing and development at our Club :-\

You’d like to think that sort of stuff would be easily knocked out of a player if the coaches around them know and understand their players and how to get the best out of them.

Seeing the improved way Joel’s playing now, makes you wonder how much better he could be if he had people around him who knew how to develop players, when he was just starting out.

And, as WP says, makes you wonder about other players too and how bad we've been at developing them.

Couldn't agree more.
I didnt see the interview but did anyone ask Joel if he knew the gameplan at Richmond?

Damn - I missed "On the Couch" both times.  My Bombers mate was full of praise for Joel Bowden - even said he felt like writing to RFC and say what a wonderful person Joel came across - and my mate was sincere!!!
