Incentives

I think that its time that we made the players play for real incentives.
The incentive will or should be if you play a crap game you lose your match payment.
I think if somethink like this was installed a lot of players sitting back collecting good money for bad games stand back and take notice.
Make the ones not putting in a real  four quarter effort pay for their mistakes. As their hands are out taking the money, so let them stand up and be counted.
It is really time for them to stand up for us all, as they are our represenatives out there. And we the supporters are getting hammered to, but we can't do a thing about it. But wear it on the chin.

The snag is the AFLPA would go nuts if we denied match payments. There would be minimum standard payments as part of the collective agreement. For example a first round draftee would have a base salary of at least $50k before touching a footy. Specific performance based payments (such as a performance based contract) would be on top of that.

The other thing is the AFL requires all clubs to pay a minimum 92.5% of the salary cap. With such a young list we could realistically pay less than the minimum if we were allowed to. With Gas gone and Sugar rumouredly retiring plus others and Joel going onto the vets list we should be freeing up some salary cap space.
