Do you think with the picks that we have now in the draft that Cameron Wood might go at pick 4?

I hope not.
Richmond have done poorly in a lot of drafts because players have been picked who will cover a deficient position rather than picking the best available player. If Deledio, Griffen and Tambling are gone by pick 4 as expected then I think Franklin should be selected because he is the 4th best in the draft.

Wood is likely to be pick 7, thus our interest in trying to obtain this pick ;)

If we don't use pick 4 then we've got to hope at least one of Wood, Meesen or Deluca are left by pick 12.

The picks might go as:

Hawthorn 2, 5 and 7 - midfielder(s) and KPP ( might now choose a ruckman with pick 7)
Bulldogs 3 and 6 - midfielder and KPP
Crows 8 - midfielder or KPP
Carlton 9 - ruckman
Collingwood 10 - midfielder
Port  11 - midfielder

If the draft went like that we might be a chance to get a young ruckman at 12.

Tiger Wood?

SPEAKING of the Tigers, whisper is they are keeping an eye on young Lions ruckman Cameron Wood as a potential recruiting target for next season.

Well the Tigers were supposedly keen on him a couple of seasons ago (2004 draft)

It's early days yet to judge second year talls but his kicking looked a bit suss to me. Always wanted to dish off a handball. He's also a young ruckman which isn't a urgent area of concern for us unless we don't hold much hope for Graham. We need young KPPs. Wood was picked up at 18 and Patto 16 so at this stage we're in front.

I know Angus Graham is still young, but from the little that i have seen i dont hold much hope for him making it at the elite level.

Maybe harsh but just my opinion.

Tigers interested in Cam Wood (The Age)
« Reply #10 on: October 09, 2007, 03:54:14 AM »
From today's Age. We've declared interest in Cameron Wood...

Collingwood, like the Tigers and Saints, were declaring their interest in Brisbane ruckman Cameron Wood. The Magpies were contemplating the possibility of giving up their first-round pick, selection 14, to put the contracted 20-year-old into a black-and-white jumper.

Given the higher draft positions of both Richmond and St Kilda, who are eyeing Wood in the event that they miss out on Blake, the Magpies believe that it might take their first-round selection to win the day.

"He's under contract so we have to satisfy them (Brisbane) as well as convincing him to come," Collingwood football operations manager Geoff Walsh said.

If Blake decides to stay at Geelong, Brisbane's Cameron Wood will become the most sought-after ruckman on the trade table.

I think it was rumoured at the time he was a Tigers fan X.

If the Pies reckon they'll need to give pick 14 then that'd mean we'd have to offer pick 18 for Wood. We'll end up with just one pick in the top 25 of the draft at this rate  :P.
