Miller on Sport 927 (audio and summary)

Richmond's Director of Football joins us to defend the club against the Tiger bashers who have been hitting our airwaves over the past couple of days.

Her's a summary for those who can't get the audio to work.

Summary

* Miller didn't know Yazz wrote "the only was is up" lol

* Pleased to get plenty of preseason training under the belts of so many of our players. Unlike last year when Cogs and Simmo were injured. New recruits Morton and McMahon have had uninterrupted preseasons and in real good shape plus our cubs are coming along fine.

* Foley is a fine young man and will handle the extra pressure of the vice captaincy. A number of boys (Lids and co)  have played 40-60 games now and so there's higher expectations as there should be.

* Leadership process - Plough went through with the leadership and playing group about assessment of their peers. Newy and Foley were the big winners which shows how highly regarded they are by their peers.

* 4th year of Terry's contract - asked what does Plough have to do to keep your faith?
5 year deal was the right direction for the club. The needed to stick to a long term plan. The longevity of Terry's contract was needed to implement this plan. Last year's results were disappointing on field no doubt but Greg said he has no doubt we are on track as a club to do what we want to achieve. Takes longer than it use to. Turning over the list (we've turned many players over) and getting games into the younger players. We've now got the list with the right combination to go forward. Greg said he's sure success is inevitable so that's what the catchcry is around here (the club) and it's what he believes.

* Are you talking top 8?
Greg said he isn't taking or predicting any finishing position. More pleased with quality of young men we have. The style of footy. The balance across the board in terms of tall, short and speed. No doubt we are a quick team. We will win more than 3 1/2 games and plan to go further.

* What fringe players who have played a handful games are going to step up and are flying over preseason?
Best this preseason is JON. Don't want to put too much pressure on him as he's only 19 who is maligned by unknowning members of our supporter group who give kids 12 months and want to toss them out. JON had stress fractures this time last year but this year he has been outstanding. Plans to build on the 7-8 games he's played.

Before the recent draft we had only two players who hadn't played AFL. One of those is Casserly who had a groin injury in his first year and then had injuries last year. He's flying as well. Expect him to play Friday night. Others have built up but I know all clubs say that. Richmond supporters will be pleased by what they see Friday Night.

* Terry's been quiet but his view on the interchange rules isn't different to the other vocal coaches. More communication with the coaches.

* Any 2007 draftees vs Saints?
Cotchin - achilles sorness. He was put on the long-term injury last Friday. So it'll be 8 weeks before he plays.
Sylvester been very good. So has Cartledge.
Rance will take a while but all are going fine.
Casserly groin injury

Exactly! Faith folks faith  ;D

Actually Kingy D, said at Club80 last evening that he had been impressed with JON this pre-season - amazing what having a full pre-season can do for a blokes confidence. Said he will definitely play this Friday off the backline.
