The kid gloves have been taken off Lids and Tambo. Plough wants Lids to start dominating games going by that.

IN the second of our four-part interview with Terry Wallace, the Richmond coach talks to Luke Holmesby about why Chris Judd was never going to be a Tiger, tanking in football and the myths about his 2011 predictions.

You were criticised for urging Richmond fans to wait until 2011 before they could expect success. When do you think the club will be successful?

I don’t crystal ball, I never have. I never said anything about success or a flag. All I said was that our list would be in its best shape in regards to ages. I’ve always thought West Coast have done it well where two blokes will be 30 years of age and there’s a couple more coming in at the bottom end. It’s where you haven’t got a whole heap of guys at one age and no one at the other age and it is a perfect cycle. Our perfect cycle won’t come until 2011 and it will be cyclical from that point onwards. That had nothing to do with success.

IN THE third instalment of our four-part interview with Terry Wallace, the Richmond coach tells Luke Holmesby about his strained relations with the Western Bulldogs and how coaching has changed since he started 12 years ago.

When I got to Richmond it was down on its knees a bit and they determined that they needed what the Bulldogs had – that type of person to rejuvenate the rank and file. Over the last six months we’ve decided to be more football-oriented and go down a different pathway. I’m employed to do what the club wants me to do.
