Which Tigers will play in the AFL Hall of Fame match?
« on: April 02, 2008, 05:54:58 PM »
Richo is one Tiger who wants to play in the game....

----------------------
Among the many highlights of his remarkable career, Richmond's Matthew Richardson played once for Victoria and twice for the composite Allies side before State Of Origin was disbanded.

He thinks absence has made players' hearts grow fonder of a match outside their normal club commitments during the season.

"It's certainly given me some inspiration to get a kick in the next few weeks, before they announce the squads," said Richardson, a member of the Tasmanian Team of the Century.

"I'd love the opportunity to play, as would any player in the AFL.

"The fact that there's been a few years without State Of Origin football, it's whetted the appetite of the players again, they're all very keen to play.

"Just that break from it has certainly helped the enthusiasm."

"If the opportunity was there I certainly would say to play in the 150-year celebration against Victoria on the MCG in front of 70,000 people would be a good memory to take away from the game."

Richardson, who represented Tasmania as an 18-year-old and won the Alex Jesaulenko Medal playing for the Allies in 1996, believes a strong showing this year could pave the way for regular state of origin battles.

"I think all the players are looking forward to it. If the players embrace it, the clubs embrace it and the fans, there is no reason why it couldn't be a permanent fixture," he said.

Richo, Foley and Kane Johnson are in the squads.

Kane Johnson  ??? ??? ???

If they are going to name 'form' players like Alwyn Davey or Ryan Griffen, then surely Jake King should have got a run. In any case, he should've got a go in front of Johnson!

Given the DT's forward line with Pavlich, Franklin, Kosi, Riewoldt and Mooney, Richo will have to play on the wing  ;D.

We could have no respresentatives by the time the lists are cut back which wouldn't bother me - no injury risk.
