David King on 3aw

David King on 3aw now

* We're optimistic and playing exciting footy but we were there to win. We were statistically on top in the game but didn't get the result.

* Are Richmond getting off the hook too easy?
Not sure. For others to judge. He knows Tony Shaw believes he is getting conned.

* Replayed Adrian Anderson giving the AFL's explanation over the missing 14 seconds.
I don't think he's as frustrated as anyone. Not as frustrated as those at Punt Road.

* A caller rang in and said you (Richmond) are kidding yourselves if you're blaming the timekeepers or umpires. It was your atrocious skill level that caused you to lose.
Kingy said the caller was right. We had our chances. That's not the issue.

* Russell asked why didn't Jack go the torp as a drop punt was never going to make the distance?
Kingy said yeah he's not sure why Jack didn't go the torp but the heat of the moment and being young affects making decisions (or words to that affect).

* Clarko's cluster? Said the midfield press as other sides try it will be harder to get rid of than the dreaded 'flood'.

* Another caller said he was really happy with the Tigers. On the cubs Moore and Riewoldt having shots - did the senior players go up to them afterwards?
Yep Sugar went up to Moore so that's one.

a little bit more ...

* A caller was happy Wallace told the AFL off. King said you've got to stand up for the club.

* Another caller mentioned Lids' courageous effort.
King said Lids running back with the flight of the ball was one of the bravest efforts of the year so far. There's been plenty of brave acts from the Richmond boys this year.

* Another caller. This one asking about the gameplan. Impressed with how we are going but we smashed them in the guts yet once we got outside we often went sideways. Why didn't they do what you use to do Kingy?
Yes there were chances to move the ball forward further but it's a young side and we get a chance to work on these things.
