Miller on SEN - "I'm in for the long haul"
« on: June 07, 2008, 12:36:05 PM »
Miller was on SEN just after midday. I missed the first bit of the interview.

* Believes with our young list we will be able to take advantage of the new teams coming in. Sides with aging lists now will struggle to get the best talent. Sides even up the top now just hanging on will in a couple of years not be able to get the best talent. We do have a young list so we will be up the top by then.

* There'll still be draft opportunities and these new draft rules may be watered down but there won't be as many opportunities especially top picks.

* We're still suffering from a lack of middle age players. You need to be a good player to make 26 and still be on a AFL list.

* Clubs learning mistakes from taking older players for just a couple of years. The Swans have done/do it but most clubs now won't.

* The AFL has been talking about West Sydney for 12 years so it's not just a new thing. Gary March has been to all the meetings and passes the latest info to the board. Agrees it has to be a new franchise.

* Greg said he'll be at Punt Rd for as long as we continue to show improvement. He knew it would take a long time. Praised the board and management for their unwavering support on the direction we've taken. 95% of supporters can see what we are doing. He said he's in for the long haul until we see success and we will be successful. Those internally see improvement before those outside do.

* Media - yeah it can be testy but we're very lucky as a sport to have the last 8-9 pages of the paper dedicated to it.

* Grant Thomas said yeah there was a time he and Greg didn't see eye to eye (Thomas being blamed for Schimma's sacking at North) but now it's okay.

Point 1/ He wont be around for much longer, Greg Miller has little idea
Point 2/ The recuiting over the past 3 years has been appalling due to Terry and Greg wanting quick, smalller type players. I like Edwards and co but we have a real problem, too many "" tiny players ""
Edwards, King, White, Tambling,
Add McMahon, ::)
Thats the problem at punt road, at the start of the year, Gary March stated "we will let our performances"" speak.  I have seen enough Gary too say , we are headed in the wrong direction and if you keep supporting the current coach, we will be looking for a new president as well.

Yep Greg said in 03 we will be in a position in 07. Well isn't he and Spud responsible.
07 comes around and TW and co are talking about 2011. Well isn't he and TW accountable.
If they are around in 2011 will the plan be extended to 2015. Heard it all before and it is wearing so so thin. I hate going out for a smoke at quarter half 3 quarter time and see the empty depressed annoyed directionless pained upset empty expression on Richmond fans faces as they have their darts before retreating back to the slaughterhouse to watch the tiger cull. I think we deserve better.

It's actually derived from my surname - luckily I have never been drawn to the web of inhaling carcinogens.

It is the wrong way around - the Richmond Football Club are in for the long haul for GReg Millers career.  He is the John Fletcher of AFL football.

Sack him.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

How about our youngsters and boom recruits like
Raines struggling
McMahon  :banghead
Meyer  :whistle
Schulz  :sleep
Jon  :scream
Tambling just not up to it
Howat  ::)
and then we have these mid age range blokes in the 33-28 agr Raines that are not much chop when push comes to shove
Pettifer Hyde Tivendale
and will we be demanding enough and driven enough us a club to possibly put guys like
Newman Brown up for trade for something in next years draft.

Rather than look at the "positives " at what we have Miller look at what we don't have and how we should be shrewd enough to get it.Perhaps the interview should have taken placr straight after the second half yesterday.
