Who has been our biggest improver this year?

The Age says Lids.

The big improvers
Emma Quayle | July 6, 2008

In choosing your club's most improved player in 2008, The Sunday Age considered players who were in at least their third year on an AFL list and who were, in most cases, already senior regulars.

We didn't implement a cut-off age, believing there must still be life after 27 and 28, and considered those who had graduated from fringe player to key regular as well as those who had already reached fairly high levels of importance.

The statistical viewpoint was considered, however a player's increased importance to the team in a more spiritual sense was the key.

RICHMOND - Brett Deledio

Deledio keeps steadily rising and is a good advertisment for not being too harsh on players too soon in their careers.

He's always been able to do a lot of things very well.

He's just starting to do them for longer periods now.

The stats say: Leads the Tigers in disposals, handballs, inside 50s and score assists.

He is averaging a career-high of 25 disposals, making him an elite ball-winner of the competition for the first time in his career.

I thought Moore too but they did say they were mainly looking at players who were already senior regulars.

Moore's profile is such that most media people probably wouldn't even know who he is. Don't think Moore will ever be the centre of attention type player.

I find it very strange how they include already a senior regular as one of their prerequisites.
By becoming a senior regular and knocking another player out of the side in itself shows a large amount of improvement.
I guess they were doing it to cover their asses as they don't know the details on the fringe players at every club.

Moore and Lids for me too at AFL level. Going by their criteria Richo on the wing could be classed as our biggest improver at 33 lol. Stats wise getting the ball more than ever and still kicking goals.

Lids without a doubt for mine. Would have to be top 3 in the club B&F and would have overtaken Axle as our highest rated midfielder by an opposition.

Moore has improved from a low base now that he has got his body in knick at 24 y-o, however, IMO will ever only be a 3rd tall defender at best.  The comment should also take into account and acknowledge the positive work that Kel has put into gain his improvement.
