Tiger Jack Riewoldt helps out Chinese residents by donating TV
Craig Hutchison | August 10, 2008

AFTER a week of footballers behaving badly, the boys from Tigerland brought some good news to members of Melbourne's Chinese community.

When the Tigers heard Richmond housing estate residents would miss watching the Beijing Olympics through a shortage of televisions, the club sent Jack Riewoldt over with a solution.

Armed with a brand new flat screen TV from the club's major sponsor, Dick Smith Electronics, Riewoldt made a surprise visit to the estate community centre.

"We'd been talking to the local kids during our community visits and found out they were really excited about the Beijing Olympics," Riewoldt said.

"We thought it would be a nice thing for the club to provide them with a TV. They seem pretty stoked."

The centre will be a focal point during the Games, with many of the residents former Beijing natives.

No word, though, on whether the Tigers can do anything about seeing through the smog.

This really goes to show that Richmond are not just a football club they are a big part of the community. Well done.
