Good to hear about the improvement in recruiting resources. Just shows how unprofessional we were as a club in the past leaving it to one person to do everything.

Does anyone know if anyone from OER went or are we all just hanging around here tonight like idiots  ;D

I was there , great night as usual, very informative as usual, cant say anything about it of course
Not even a hush-hush PM  :shh.

Hopefully you blaisee and anyone else who went can give us a run down Saturday arvo after the draft and if the draft went the way Craig Cameron and Francis Jackson hoped it would.

Just a general question blaisee without mentioning names - was the rookie draft discussed as well as the National draft?

Here is a report from another site on some of what was said at the Pre-Draft Function:

For the first FJ wanted one of Hartlett, Vickery, Yarran or Ziebell, probably in that order. The highlight reels of Hartlett and Yarran
were jaw dropping.

For the second Pick he discussed Jaydyn Post and also mentioned David Zaharakis who went to Essendon at Pick 23. FJ mentioned that the Psych test result from David Zaharakis was so good that Jeff Bond was skeptical that he was giving honest answers. FJ was in no doubt though as he believes that Zaharakis is a very special person.

He mentioned that Post grew in confidence this year and had a standout year, my concern is that it may take him a while to develop the
self-confidence to play against grown men.

He talked about the 2nd tier rucks (in case we didnt get Vickery) he mentioned Redden and Mckernan and another South Australian from Southern Country parts of SA.

He wasn't a rap for McKernan as he believes he is not that good at ground level and not overly enthusiastic about the rest of the ruck crop in general.

He believes Hurley is too slow for AFL football.

Ziebell is a natural leader and will be a great player.

He liked Steven Motlop.

He was a big wrap for Luke Shuey.

He talked up a smoky in Bart McCulloch and he must have been gutted when Brisbane took him one pick before us in the 4th round.

His other smoky was Jamie Bennell who he hoped he may have been able to pick up in the 3rd or 4th round. He talked of leaving this years Grand Final at 3/4 time to fly to Bunbury to watch him play in a Prelim Final. He did nothing up to 3/4 time and he went on to ground during the break and called Bennell over and told "I've come a long way to see you play so show me something". He had a better last quarter but was best on ground next week in the Grand Final.

He mentioned many times that he was disappointed that the club wasn't able to give him a 3rd round pick, that said he, and the coaching
staff, are very excited about Adam Thomson.
