Richmond Cricket Club may be moving from Punt Rd Oval
« on: November 09, 2008, 04:45:18 AM »
North Melbourne, Essendon and Richmond are at different stages of considering moving off the homes grounds they share with their AFL namesakes. The shifts would need to be partially funded by football.

Discussions are cordial, with the Roos considering a permanent move to their home this summer at J J Holland Park in Kensington (Arden Street is being re-sown), if the facilities were improved. But the reserve is part of the construction area for the suggested East West Link. North has six years left on its lease at Arden Street and is also keen to explore the new facilities unveiled on Friday.

The Bombers on Wednesday put their multi-pronged proposal to Essendon Football Club for them to shift to Cross Keys Reserve, also in Essendon. Compensation for their $100,000 renovation of their rooms at Windy Hill is part of it.

The Tigers have no "further resolution to the cricket club moving" after the footballers put suggestions to them last month.

Im buggered why they wouldnt shift lock stock and barrell to KB reserve down on the river, much better surrounds than playing amid one of the busiest intersections in Melbourne ....I know what sporting club committees are like and if Im right there would be a couple at the cricket club that are standing up to "city hall" just for the heck of it ::)

Don't the RFC have a controlling interest in the RCC?

Richmond Cricket Club Limited

The Richmond Football Club Limited owns 51% of the Richmond Cricket Club Limited and includes any surplus or deficit of the cricket operations in its results. The operations of the Cricket Club are to hold the lease of the Punt Road Oval from the Melbourne City Council, and to be an accredited member of the Victorian Cricket Association.
