I'm not sure whether it's circumstance/coincidence or it's a deliberate new strategy but we seem to be all of a sudden thinking outside of the square as a club and testing the boundaries of the AFL. We aren't going to win them all in our favour but we're no longer just accepting our situation and the status quo.
- We requested to put Polak on the rookie list freeing up a free pick to get Cousins (Result: knocked back).
- We selected Cousins anyway when the other 15 clubs said no (Result: gained huge free publicity and a spike in membership and merchandise).
- We're now requesting a new lucrative Sportsbet sponsorship to go through even though the AFL has a year to go with an existing sponsor that competes with Sportsbet (Result: pending)
I like it. Well done RFC
