Who is this Cousins fellow... Inside Football draft summaryDecember 17, 2008 Issue
National draftPick 8 - Tyrone Vickery, 18, 200cm, 86kg, Sandringham Dragons
A strong-marking, athletic ruckman who can go forward and kick goals. He is an extremely competitive player with a real appetite for the contest. Some clubs rated him as a top three talent. All-Australian U18 2008.
Pick 26 - Jayden Post, 19, 194cm, 88kg, Western Jets
An athletic key position player who will most likely be used in defence. He is good overhead and dependable in one-on-one contests.
Pick 58 - Tom Hislop, 21, 185cm, 85kg, Essendon
Dumped by Essendon for disciplinary reasons, Hislop is a tough inside midfielder who will be a good compliment to the Tigers' batch of exciting outside runners.
PSD Pick 6 - Ben Cousins, 30, 179cm, 87kg, Port Melbourne
Listed as coming from Port Melbourne, but apparently didn't play a VFL game. Little known about his background.
Rookie Draft Pick 8 - Robin Nahas, 21, 176cm, 67kg, Port Melbourne
Lively small forward who took the VFL by storm last season much like Aaron Davey did when he was at Port. Has neat skills and a real eye for goal.
Pick 24 - David Gourdis, 19, 192cm, 90kg, Richmond
Key position player who had some impressive performances for Coburg in the VFL last year. Can play at either end and has great speed and agility for his size.
Pick 39 - Andrew Browne, 18, 205cm, 105kg, Murray Bushrangers
Towering young ruckman who helped lead the Bushrangers to the TAC Cup premiership. Still learning the game but has a huge upside.
Pick 53 - Alroy Gilligan, 18, 177cm, 72kg, Claremont
Young indigenous back pocket that loves to run and carry the ball. Attended Clontarf College after coming down from Fitzroy Crossing.
2008 Draft Report Cardby Brett Anderson and Ben Casanelia
Rating - BWith only three picks the Tigers had a quiet day but were elated that Vickery came to them at pick 8. Not only was he the best available player at that point (some rated him a top three selection), but he fills a glaring need with Simmonds getting on in years and Pattison yet to fully hit his straps. They then beat the Roos to Post, a quality key defender. They finished off their day by giving Hislop a second chance at the big time. He didn't do himself many favours at Windy Hill but if he can get himself sorted, he could prove to be a great pick. All in all, a solid first draft for Craig Cameron.
