This will be my only club: Matthew Richardson
Jon Ralph | May 05, 2009

RICHMOND star Matthew Richardson says he would never play for another club, even if he was forcefully retired by a new coach next year.

As the Tigers' finals chances look increasingly desperate, attention has turned to how many of the club's over-30s will survive next year.

Richardson has been in career-best form in the past 18 months, but turned 34 in March.

While Brownlow medallist Gerard Healy has suggested Richardson might be moved on by a new coach, the man himself says he has another year of footy left in him.

Richardson said yesterday after 17 years at Richmond, he would never play a farewell year at another club.

"No, I don't think so. I remember Dougie Hawkins left Footscray and went to Fitzroy for one year and it didn't seem right," he said.

"That wouldn't be a possibility, so if the Tigers didn't require me (that would be it)."

Richardson said nothing would convince him to play elsewhere, even if he felt he had another great season left in him.
