The Tiges?

I'm still bullish.

Trent Cotchin, Joel Bowden, Shane Tuck and Luke McGuane will return to the team, and all the big guns, from Matthew Richardson down, will improve.

All of them, even those who accumulated big numbers Thursday night.

Cousins aside, the big plus was the form of Andrew Raines, who was restricted to two appearances last year.

He is quick, which is important, and he can kick, which is even more important at Richmond.

Raines shouldn't be under-estimated. He is about to turn 23, has 50 games under his belt, and finished runner-up in the best-and-fairest in 2006.

The Tigers were run over Thursday night, but they have a month to finetune things.

As disappointing as it was, they know they will get better, and they should know Collingwood is top-four material.

Mike hopped on the tiggy train 6 months ago so he's not a Cousins bandwagoner lol.

The preseason comp means nothing these days so any season predictions are meaningless. The Pies are still ordinary at the centre bounces. Guys like O'Bree are hardworkers but they won't win a flag for you. All their skilled players are out on the flanks.

Yep have missed out on drafting an elite midfielder due to the fact they haven't bottomed out for a while.  I think the last really high draft pick they had was Fraser.

And the Tigers have had 3 Top 5 picks since the Ottens/Fiora debacle of the late 90s so the comparison of top end picks is not that relevant.
The Pies remind me a bit like the Crows - not full of talent but an incredibly well drilled and coached side.
Any raw talent deficiencies are made up by the fact the are so well organized on and off the field.

Pies have been very good in both pre season games and all that means is what it means!!!

Totally agree about the Pies. Look at thier list, their 22 as well and frankly it doesn't look great. Top 8 yes but questionable in the extreme if that is naturally a top 4 chance. However they do get the best out of them and that is important.

I honestly believe that man for man our 22 is better in individual terms but collectively the Pies are maximising what hey can get out of their playersand we have yet to show we can do that.

Yep when they tanked in 2005 by putting all their better players on the injury list in the second half of the year. Pendlebury = class btw. I'd have him at Tigerland in an instant. Thomas = downhill skier  :yep although TM will disagree and call him the next Hird  ;D.

The Pies also had a poor 2004 so Chucky wasn't totally off the mark but they missed out on Lewis at pick 7 by swapping first round picks with Hawthorn for Bo Nixon and then picking up Chris Egan at 10. Both are gone.

More evidence that taking your picks is the better strategy. Oh and also trading for more high picks  ;D
