SEN saying 5-6 Sri Lankan players have been wounded but not seriously.

Bloody hell!  :( This will end international cricket in Pakistan.

Pakistan is a mess with the Taliban/Al Qaeda spreading the Afghan war across the border. Deliberately attacking foreigners in an effort to destabilise the whole country and bring down the Pakistani government.

They're now saying 8 players were wounded.

At least eight players in the Sri Lankan national cricket team were hurt in a shooting while being driven to the Lahore cricket stadium in Pakistan on Tuesday.

The team bus came under fire as the players headed to the Gaddafi stadium for the third day of the second Test against Pakistan in the eastern city of Lahore.

Thilan Samaraweera was one of those reportedly hurt. Skipper Mahela Jayawardena was slightly wounded in the foot, his father told a local television station after speaking with him by telephone.

Sri Lankan team manager Brendon Kruppu confirmed the incident and said star wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara was among the injured.

Indian TV network Zee News reported two grenades were lobbed at the Sri Lankan team as it moved  from Liberty Chowk to Polo Ground Road.
There was then "indiscriminate firing'', it said.

Three policemen have died and two others were injured, it said.

Their bus came under fire, their manager Brenden Kurrupu told AFP.

The tour has reportedly been cancelled.

"We are assessing the situation," Pakistan cricket board chief Ejaz Butt said.

Australia will play Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in May in five one-day and Twenty20 internationals.

Australia haven't toured Pakistan since 1998 because of security concerns.

What were the Sri Lankans thinking sending those boys there in the first place knowing the high risk something like this would happen?

Terrible day not only for the Sri Lankans but for sport in general
I would hate to see any other sports targeted because terrorists think they can get to us that way

The news said they played a couple of one-dayers there not so long ago without incident which convinced them it was okay to have whole test series in Pakistan.

The next World Cup I think is on the subcontinent and Pakistan is one of the co-hosts. They can kiss that goodbye now. No other nation will go near Pakistan. Australia is playing Pakistan in 5 one-dayers and a couple of 20/20s in neutral Dubai.

Bayliss was injured not seriously

The 2 umpires for the test were Aussies: Taufel & Davies both are OK

Why would you go there  ???

The one who looks like a legend out of all this is James Sutherland.

Never once under his leadership of Aus Cricket has our team travelled to Pakistan.

I thought it was Imran who blasted the Aussies for not touring but in fact it was Geoff Lawson. What a fool he looks like now.

Stuff that country and in fact Aussies should never travel to any of those countries, including India for the time being.

Can someone remember what Andrew symonds stance on travelling over there was?

I remember he was very vocal but cant remember in what capacity.

Symonds was very ANTI. Basically he said he doesn't love cricket that much to risk his life.

Can you believe the Aussie umpires caught up in the attack could be sanctioned for speaking out  ???. The ICC boss has called them "to be more rational"  ::).

Yep the Pakistani authorities allowing a dozen or so terrorists to rock up in rickshaws, fire rounds and grenades at the players and umpires, then waltz off on motorbikes. Yep nothing to be angry about there when you are almost killed ::).

You know thats why this world is so stuffed up right now, because we are sanctioned over little things like that while terrorsts are roaming around doing as they please. Throw a atomic bomb on Pakistan if you ask me. Stuff those pricks

these days if you dont like someone just kill them because you will probably only get 2 years then your free again.
Fu.ckin Australia is turning into all these other countries. No Balls at all

We should adopt a saudi approach. if you murder you get murdered. If you bomb someone, then you should get a bomb shoved up ur arse
