Whilst I don't condone showing pics of where players live etc, I think it would appear seriously hypocritical to reap the massive rewards associated with having Ben Cousins in yellow n black yet on the other hand complain about him being the No1 human interest story in a fairly ho hum pre-season.  It wasnt much different fro Judd last year and Ben has much more story potential.  The Cuzz buzz has been magic and for its negatives has created the most positive vibe around the club since the 80s.   Call me over cautious but having the media circus follow him everywhere may also mean he stays on the straight and narrow also.  Everytime I get peeed off with teh media stories I check thew membership tally  :cheers

A media induced meltdown in fact  :clapping

Would love to see all media outlets sued for stalking.

TV to be granted greater access to footy stars (Herald-Sun)

Prepare for open slather .....

TV to be granted greater access to footy stars
Jon Ralph | March 02, 2009

THE AFL's TV broadcasters are to be allowed unprecedented permission to interview players, as the league finds ways to maximise media rights deals.

Under the proposed agreement, networks will be able to request interviews with controversial stars including Ben Cousins, Alan Didak and Brendan Fevola, and the clubs will not be allowed to refuse them.

While several clubs, such as Essendon and Collingwood, are mostly willing to allow interviews to promote games, broadcasters say most are extremely uncooperative.

The AFL, aware a new TV rights deal will likely be struck during the global financial crisis, is determined to help its broadcasters find value from the five-year $780 million deal.

The determination from AFL clubs to limit media interviews is in stark contrast to American sport.

Many US sports have an open media policy.

AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan confirmed an agreement was likely to be in place before the start of the season and Channel 10 head of football David Barham said yesterday football lovers would win from greater access to the league's stars.

All this just shows what a sad world we live in and although we can blame photographers and journos on this invasion of privacy the editors of the Herald Sun and all the other rags are just even more to blame for allowing these things to go to print. Enough is enough.

The we told u so element will then come out of the media if Ben does digress from his plan and strays off the path and then we will see how destructive those paparazzi can be.

Gee I hope someone told Hawthorn! Don't they require a request for interviews to be put in 4 days beforehand?

BEN Cousins, the troubled former West Coast football player who is now a chick-magnet for Richmond, won't talk to the media.

After his first game for Richmond, nosy reporters were kept well away and told that Cousins's mental state was not up to dealing with the insensitive questions journos might ask him about his personal life.

So to ensure he remains wrapped in many layers of cotton wool, his management has signed him up to a regular on-air spot with Melbourne radio station Nova 100.
