Cooney is still a touch underdone but Boyd (61 possies already), Cross and Griffen in their midfield and Gilbee off half-back have started the year like a house on fire.

Who do we hard tag and who goes head to head?

Tuck - Boyd
Foley - Cross
Lids - Griffen ..... go head to head
Jacko - Cooney

Bowden - Gilbee ....... give Joel a nullify job across HF as he hasn't done much so far. Although he usually plays on Johnson based on past matches.

Wouldn't Johnson be too good one-on-one for Deano as he plays tall at FF?

Way too good.  Moore or McGuane will get him.

Jackson - Boyd
We need to nullify their run and carry and hurt them the other way and Jacko has the strength, pace and endurance to do this. Without Boyd and Conney underdone they will find their clearance capabilities servely reduced.

Foley - Cross
Should be a good matchup as both will be hard at it.

Tuck - Griffen
Griffen has more skills and run than Tucky but the big fellow will smash his in close. Tucky will need play close to Griffen outside of stopages.

Lids - Cooney
This matchup will see how well Lids is really travelling at the moment. I think he will take the chocolates! :thumbsup

King/Hislop - Gilbee
King would be just the hard nosed, annoying shadow Gilbee would hate. May even sneak in acouple of goals himself crumbing. Hislop could also provide the defensive skills to shut down Gilbees run but I worry this may reduce our forward opinions.

Moore yes. Not McGuane for mine, we really don't want him deep one out with Johnson.

Only one way to find out  :thumbsup

Actually think Deano's work in one on one contests has been very good pre-season and the games I've seen him play.

I reckon Minson will dumped at FF we need one of our main defenders to take him

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the Captains play on each other. Newman always takes Johnson at some point in our games against the Bullies. It rarely works but it always happens  :-\ ;D

Took the words out of my mouth TT! I believe our forward line has been impotent due to the fact that some of our forward options are playing a match up on someone

I like the idea of Hislop on Gilbee Stripes. Allows us to keep our existing structure from last week too.

I'm a Newy fan as you know WP  ;D but even I wouldn't play him on Johnson for the same reason as Polo. Johnson even though he only a midsized forward has way too much smarts and experience as the go FF for either one-on-one. Let Moore take Johnson (although Magic is right - Joel usually gets him) and McGuane takes Minson or Hudson resting up forward as Lukey usually takes the tallest opposition forward. I'd rather keep Polo for someone like Higgins.

Who will they play on Richo is a valid question..

He does love those Dogs.
You would think it would be Hargraves on the wing unlike they try a Hahn as a surprise and then possibly Tom Williams on Richo when he pushes forward.
