There are a number of benefits of making the decision early

1) A new coach may be able to ensure that players like Deledio stay rather than leave which could become a possibility if things dont improve.

2) A new coach can finish the careers of the Johnsons Bowdens et al - in one the first decisions he makes

3) Provide the club with a chance to do some proper marketing - because the membership numbers next year could take a hammering

4) A new coach could do a Ratten and tank the rest of this season in order to get early picks and an early PSD pick,

and several others

The time has come (yet again) for a total cleanout at seasons end.  The following players must go by way of trade or delisting. Tambling, Jackson, Raines, Polak (bad luck but cant carry him), Edwards, Bowden, Mcmahon, Pettifer, JON, Schulz, Graham, Johnson.

Trade or attempt to trade: Tambling, Schulz, Hughes.
Delist: JON, King, Graham, Jackson.
Retire: Johnson, Bowden.

That would be 9 changes. That's enough.

Some suggestions for remainder of the season:

1. Try McMahon as a small forward. If no result, then trade/delist/Coburg.

2. I've said for a long time that the only way Schulz will make it as an AFL player is as a defender. He has no smarts as a forward. Drop him to Coburg, play him permanently as a defender. If no go, trade or delist.

3. When fit, play Cousins as a high half-forward. Forget him as a full-on midfielder this season.

4. Drop Tambling to Coburg and bring him back when he has 35+ possessions for 4 consecutive games. Confidence is totally shot and doesn't believe in himself.

5. Never drop Rance again. Give him the top job every week.

Plenty more, but that's a start.
