RICHMOND president Gary March says the Tigers have not put a line through any of the league's experienced senior coach, as the club's attention turns to replacing Terry Wallace.
The Bulldogs last night ended Wallace's coaching career with a whimper rather than a bang, his Tigers losing by 68 points after a pitiful second-half fadeout.
Wallace's replacement this year will be announced to the players this morning before a press conference about midday.
But last night March said the club had already done an enormous amount of research on the model of coach it required, and was not ruling out anyone.
While Kevin Sheedy will not coach Richmond, it brings Collingwood's Mick Malthouse back into the picture.
The club had earlier been reluctant to turn to experience, but has done a lot of research in recent weeks working on the criteria for a new coach next year.
The club's plan to appoint its senior coach for 2010 will be ratified by the board this week, with Wayne Campbell favourite to be announced as caretaker.
March said no stone would be left unturned finding the best coach for Richmond, as he identified finals as a goal rather than a stripping back of the list.
"We haven't actually said we will go and get a young coach. We haven't ruled out anyone in terms of the process we want to go through," he told the Herald Sun.
"We are interested in anyone who we see as a potential coach who can develop our list, and can take this list into a finals series."
Under trying circumstances Richmond ended Wallace's coaching career with dignity and has done well to keep the identity of its interim coach under wraps.
"We will (let the caretaker know) that tomorrow morning," March said.
"We told the guys we would get tonight out of the way.
"We will tell the coaches and then the new caretaker will address the players and then we will let the media know after that. We ratified it today but made the decision over the last few days."
