Tigers make three forced changes

RICHMOND has been forced to make three changes from the team that beat Fremantle at Subiaco last weekend for Friday night's clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Speedster Matthew White tore a hamstring during the Fremantle match, while Nathan Brown (groin) and Robbie Nahas (corked quad) will miss as well.

Back into the side after stints of varying lengths at Coburg in the VFL are 2003 best-and-fairest winner Mark Coughlan, Alex Rance and Jordan McMahon.

Football manager Ross Monaghan confirmed that all changes were forced.

"We've got three injuries – Matthew White's hammy's no good, so he won't be available until after the bye, I'd think," he said.

"Nathan Brown has a re-occurrence of the groin problem he's been battling with for a good part of the season – it just flared up a little bit, and give the fact that it's a short break this week, we just couldn't get him up for this game, unfortunately.

"We'll have a look at it early next week - if the game was Sunday he probably would have been touch and go, but he just couldn't come up for a Friday night game.

"And also Robbie Nahas – he copped a corkie in his quad in last week's game and he's battled with it this week. Again, he'd probably have been OK if we were playing Sunday."

Replacing them are players who've being doing well in the VFL.

"Alex Rance comes back in after going back to Coburg last week – they had a really good win and they had lots of contributors, so there were a significant number of guys who put up their hand for selection,” he said.

"Alex was chosen out of those, as was Jordie McMahon – he had a really good game last week at Coburg and gave them plenty of run, as we know Jordie can.

"And the third one is Mark Coughlan, back in after a week at Coburg, and Cogs, as we know, will always give you a good contest.

"He got his hands on it a lot, as he always does, so it's a good opportunity for him."

If i was as cynical as some on here id say that bringing back Rance so soon and also McMahon was a sign that the club is already going the tank.
Or are they just giving Jordan a final game with Terry's final game.  :pray

Based on the first half there is no tank in there apart from Jacko's, he is limiting Cooney's influence and getting plenty of the ball himself.

Jako's last month has been exceptional. Sometimes in adversity you find some things that rise from the ashes. Very much akin to Foley's 2007.

Start the tank and start playing the kids. Give send offs against the Pies in Round 20.
Lose to the Eagles next week and round 22 to ensure they get to five wins.

Only attempt to beat possibly Melbourne and definentely Collingwood in Round 20 to give us something to crow about against the Skunks. Treat it like a Grand Final that should get us half way there and ensure those retiring go off on a good note.

Promote Vickery Post Thompson Hislop see who can play and who can't.

Moore has a shoulder problem. Rather than wait till the end operate after round 12.
Anyone else who is 100% certain to be on the list next year and is carrying a niggle get the Johnson and Johnson out and put that player in it.

2009 is gone.
Terry is gone.
This should not be about the caretaker, essentially 2010 starts now now that Terry has moved aside or has been moved on.

Tank tank tank and ensure the clubs playing personnel for the next few years will be the best. Early draft picks from this season will have the opportunity to develop with players in 23-27 bracket something the current crop have not had the opportunity to do.

It's Auld Lang Syne, Kalli Protohronia, Welcome to the Decade of the Tens, December 31 2009 in effect for us Richmond fans. 2010 and happy new year officially starts today by my clock for the RFC.

We'll find out next week if we are going to tank or not.

I cant see Campbell going the tank if he gets the caretakers role. Former PM Paul Keating used to have a great saying

"When in doubt always back self interest"

I dont think Campbell would tank, its not in his interest, even though its clearly the best option for the club from my perspective anyway.

It would be in his interests if he's going to get the gig full-time next year.

And yet not.  Interesting times.  The wait for next weeks game will be harder to do in many ways than waiting for a season opener.
