I would have Schulz above Cleve now MT.
At least Jay can play forward and back...where as our bald friend is a one trick pony.
Fair enough comment at this stage. I found Cleve, Sarge and Connors the hardest ones to judge. Daniel on talent is top 20 but he's yet to find consistency beit injury or attitude. I had Cleve ahead of Sarge based on age (younger). Hard to split them. Both have had their 6 goal haul to tease us but nothing much else to show off otherwise.

Does anyone know why he shaved his head ?
For charity. Not sure if it was the bushfire or cancer appeal.

Good list MT and certainly more accurate than IF.
Only one I disagree with is Schulz. In the 22 or thereabouts IMO.
The list certainly looks stronger in this exercise.

I still think we should persist with Hughes for a couple of seasons yet, Schulz is still 2 years older than him and 2 years ago wasn't rated very highly by the Richmond Fans. Most talls genuinely take this long to fully develop and Hughes has clearly been having injury issues the past couple of seasons.

Its pretty hard to throw your body into a pack of players when you keep getting hurt, once he can do it repeatedly and maintain full fitness afterwards, then his confidence in his body will grow. Schulz was kinda similar in this regard, he'd throw himself into a contest but would still get injurred in other ways, more long term injuries which stifle their development.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure both of these guys could have worked harder and done more, but with our need for some solid bodies up forward, we need to give them both a proper go for a good season or two more. Riewoldt & Vickery aren't ready for being full time forwards just yet, you'd break them.

Yes he should be persisted with but I am not too sure what sort of a go he will get this year with Wallace needing performing players to save his job.  If Schulz is seen more able to perform immediately Hughes may not be given a go until 2010, unless of course his performance at Coburg demands it.

They are two contrasting players too compare in this regard, you would say about Hughes why dont you get in there and have a go while with Schulz you would say WTF are you doing throwing your body in like that, you'll end up stretchered.

After a bit more of a think and remembering Sarge played 18 games last year I think you Magic and mat a probably right to have Sarge a bit higher on the list than I did. Yeah perhaps around 22 (just above Cogs) is fair enough. I still believe he is on the fringes though as he was used as a spare parts man last year down back and up forward. Sarge needs to cement his spot in the 22 this year as he's already been given a second chance after coming within a whisker of being traded to Port 18 months ago.

I'll also stick up for Cleve a bit along the lines Infamy was talking about about. That's not to say Clever needs to do far more up forward than just being a dime a dozen mark and kick forward but he has only been in the system for 3 years and some talls can take longer to develop and mentally click. Even Fev took until his 5th year to have his breakout year while Mooney took until his 9th as a forward  :o.

Glad you can see a little more of Jay's value MT.  8)
I am not by any stretch saying he's perfect but he's useful despite what his critics believe.

Sarge has always had plenty of skill.
What he's largely lacked probably up until last season (before the Port trade threat), is some application & fitnesss.
He got a lot fitter last year and his results improved considerably.
Like his good mate Kel, I still have hope he's a late maturer and can still get even better.

Alternatively I have no confidence Hughes will make it. None.
In fact I will go so far as to say I will be amazed if he is on the list beyond this season.

Reason being?? Simple.
I just don't see the required fire in the belly to make it. He's a pretty boy.
Also unlike Schulz I don't really see Cleave has much of a game outside the mrk/kick. One dimensional forward from a time long passed by.

They are two contrasting players too compare in this regard, you would say about Hughes why dont you get in there and have a go while with Schulz you would say WTF are you doing throwing your body in like that, you'll end up stretchered.

Great post Chuck.
That right there says it all.
No one would ever accuse Sarge of being soft.

So after Round 12 my list is.........

1) Richo
2) Cuz
3) Deledio
4) Foley
5) Cotchin
6) Tambling
7) Jackson
8) Tuck.....stats look good but doesn't hurt teams
9) Morton.....number one forward now.
10) McGaune
11) Polo
12) Graham
13) Newman
14) Bowden....was playing decent enough footy-but understand he is not the future.
15) Riewoldt
16) Nahas.....more important to us now than N.Brown.
17) Rance
18) Moore....playing injured I hope.
19) Collins
20) Brown....needs a big second half of the season to stay on list.
21) Thursfield
22) White
23) Cogs
24) Pattison
25) Edwards
26) Hislop
27) Vickery....Hopefully in 4 years he will be in the top 5

After this I start to struggle as Im judging players who I haven't seen before(Thomson) or players I hope never play another senior game.
