Riewoldt reported!
« on: June 15, 2009, 05:05:31 PM »
For striking Kerr.

I gotta say, I didn't see this one.

EDIT: I'm sure they said Riewoldt, but it'd have to be Hislop.

Can accept a reprimand.

It is Riewoldt...

Match review panel: round 12

Charges laid
Jack Riewoldt, Richmond, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Daniel Kerr, West Coast, during the first quarter of Saturday’s Round 12 match between Richmond and West Coast, played at Docklands on Saturday June 13, 2009.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

Other incidents assessed

Contact between Richmond’s Tom Hislop and West Coast’s Daniel Kerr from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was reviewed. The impact was below that required to constitute a report. No further action was taken.

About 13 minutes left.

I guarantee you will have a laugh when you see it is worth a week if not for the early guilty plea.  The MRP strikes again.

It was a free kick.  Nothing more.

Tiger Riewoldt accepts reprimand
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 16 June, 2009

THE AFL tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night after Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt accepted the match review panel's reprimand for striking West Coast's Daniel Kerr.

Riewoldt was charged with a level two striking offence from Saturday night's clash, assessed as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact (five activation points).

His early plea means he carries 93.75 demerit points, which will push him into suspension territory if he reoffends.

Riewoldt, 20, has played 10 games this season and kicked 13 goals.

I still trying to figure out why he was reported. You could argue it was a silly thing to do from giving a free away point of view but as TA said reportable giving what incidents has been let go this year ???. They said Hislop's 'lovetap' was fine yet Jack gets a reprimand for what looked like the same thing. Sorry it makes no sense to me  ???.

I still trying to figure out why he was reported.

Because of the utter senseless stupidity of it.  There was no good reason on God's earth for him to do it and it was only ever going to end in tears regardless of how soft or hard he tapped him.  Should have got a week to teach him a lesson.  And yes, I know that comparing the outcome with other offences does not necessarily morally justify being reported but that's not the point - he made an illegal and deliberate strike at a player off the ball - guilty as charged.  If young Jack aspires to a leadership role then we can only hope this was a valuable lesson.

Kerr having a whinge....

Review panel call ‘weird’: Kerr
18th June 2009, 14:15 WST

Eagles star Daniel Kerr says he may have to “lay on the ground a bit more” after finding himself in the firing line in recent weeks.

In last week’s dispiriting defeat to Richmond, Tigers forward Jack Riewoldt was charged with striking Kerr but avoided suspension after accepting a reprimand from the AFL match review panel.

“It’s a weird one. I spent a week on the sidelines for very similar incidents to what happened to me at the weekend,” said the West Coast midfielder, himself no stranger to the tribunal.

“Maybe I should lay on the ground a bit more and the guys hitting me would get reported – that seems to be the only difference, how long you lay on the floor for.”

Kerr, speaking from a short break in Broome, admitted he was being targeted more this season by taggers.

“I’m definitely pulling up a lot more sore around the ribs than previous years,” Kerr told 6PR’s Sport Central show.

“I am copping a little bit off the ball but that's a good thing really. You don’t want our young guys copping it and if I have to cop it for a year or two while that group develops, then I’ve got no problem.”
