Wallace on SEN at 1pm
« on: July 09, 2009, 02:21:58 AM »
I know some will say who cares but Plough is on SEN between 1-2pm today with Mark Doran for Feature Thursday. It's a 'this is your life' hour so Doran will ask him about his time as Richmond coach.

Terry on Richmond related stuff...

* Said he noticed 15 applicants had applied for the Richmond job - "Good luck!"

* Will be remembered more for coaching than as a player as it's the last thing you've done. Had two stints where one was successful IHO without achieving the ultimate success and the other which didn't work out.

* Doran asked about Round 1 - what did you do wrong, what did the players do wrong?
Agree it went wrong. Look at round 2 we were in front at 3/4 time against Geelong. Shows something with the mentality went wrong. We've been competitive without winning. To have a blowout in round 1 shows mentality went wrong. It was like a GF. There can be blowouts - Port wasn't 117 points worse than Geelong. The build-up was huge (although it wasn't pumped up internally) and when it looks like it's not going to happen it can blowout. Once the energy levels go and the realisation things are falling apart it's hard to get into a person's mindset.

* Was the energy sapped when you were asked to go to see the Prez after your second last game?
Yes I didn't know where things sat that Monday night. It was meeting on structures going forward and true I could have not been part of that structure moving forward. He didn't think there was anything extraordinary about it. We had a training session planned but we wanted to nut things out before going. They were locked in the meeting so they didn't know all about the drama going on outside. There was never talk about him being sacked during the meeting.

* Newman - did he say for whatever reason is it time to go?
Just repeated that when a person has faith in you not to go behind your back and have a honest upfront private discussion with you then it isn't right to disclose what was said publicly. Newman was representing part of the playing group when Terry thought it was the whole group so he thought his time may have been up. Doran asked if the incident raised Plough's opinion of Newy as a leader/captain? Terry said no not really as such.

* Said you need that hunger to coach and he longer has that hunger so he'll never coach again (re: asked about GC17).

The problem with the GF ending up in a blowout analogy is it's the last game of the season and it's the utlimate prize up for grabs so there's nothing to play for and only massive disappointment once the game is gone. With round 1 there's still a whole season to go and % to protect. It's only worth 4 point like the next 21 H/A matches. It wasn't as though we played the game out in junk time and won the last quarter either. We didn't give a yelp and our senior players were the main culprits showing no leadership whatsoever.

Did you listen to the interview
I thought it was his usual good, professional self
Contrary to those that seem to love to bag him, he doesn't run around making excuses or knifing people, just tells it how he sees it
Quite frankly, I reckon he was entitled to stick it up a few people, but he hasn't.
I hope our next sucker can handle the heat as well as he did  :thumbsup

He's been unprofessional as much as professional through out the year.

Can't hide away from that.

Clearly under prepared Round 1, take ownership instead of making excuses.

Complaining how bad the place was when he first got there, repeating this is just disrespectful to Danny Frawley and again just makes excuses.

Again taking multiple interviews on different channels and stations taking money for these appearances is just greedy.

Finally, You've made it obvious Chris came to you asking for his resignation. Either your loyal to your past club and protect them with a simple lie or your straight down the line and honest about everything. Instead he chose to sit on the fence trying to save face whilst not caring about the outcome.

That to me is soft and selfish.

Just hasn't handled situations well, he may take back things if he could but still doesn't hide away from the fact he handled them poorly.

Looking forward to the clubs next phase. No lost sleep on Terry. Time to move on.
