Summary

* Craig didn't read Caro's article in the paper but once he heard the cofuffle he read it online.

* Yes it is a transparent process and no one has had a line put through them. No line through Sheedy. Known him for a while and wouldn't make him do th process for nothing.

* We asked Sheeds about coming onto the panel because we weren't sure if he wanted to coach again. Once he put his hand up then he's become a live candidate and we are treating him as such.

* Possible Gary said those things at that time but Craig hasn't spoken to Gary or Sheeds about it. That's not the case now. We won't put him through a phoney process and disrespect him.

* 4 independents on our panel so the process is transparent. Final candidates don't go to the board until the panel narrow it down to a final 3. Final decision made by the entire Board.

* We don't want to publicly talk about candidates but Sheeds has publicly put his hand up. It's great he's put his hand up because if he goes through the process and is chosen then everyone knows he's the best candidate chosen.

* We won't be discussing what we are asking the candidates as we want to surprise them a bit but Sheeds will do the whole process like everyone else. Certain things that KB mentioned (eg: what will you do next watching game footage) may or may not be part of the process.

* There may be differences in the media over Sheeds and in the public but we welcome Sheeds putting his hand up. Our duty to look at everyone and find the best candidate.

* There's no agenda at Board level against Sheeds.

* There's 15 applicants. A meeting next week to decide who goes through to the first phase of process. We'll then wittle it down for the second phase and then to a final 3 for the final phase.

* Sheedy putting his hand up won't cause a revolution. People realise the decisions over the next 5 years are vital for the RFC. March and the Board have over the last 5 years sured up our finances and are putting in new facilities at Craigieburn etc. Doesn't believe the emotion around the final decision on coach will cause a revolution.

* KB said supporters can carry on (spitting on Spud) but he doesn't believe any former players had made life tough for Terry or coaches over previous years.

* What is the Vision of this admin?
Craig said the best way to answer the question is to say Caro's article is her opinion and not the view of the RFC admin. Our vision is to bring through and develop young players which we are doing. Getting our fitness, strength and conditioning, recruiting, and structures right so that when the new coach comes in he can get the best out of our group and Richmond can move forward.

Cameron: No line through Sheeds
08-07-2009 10:55 AM
By Jacqui Reed

SEN | EXCLUSIVE: Richmond Football Operations Manager Craig Cameron has denied allegations the club has ruled out Kevin Sheedy for the senior coaching position.

Speaking on behalf of the Richmond Football Club, Cameron explained to Kevin Bartlett that Caroline Wilson's article was just her opinion, and was not a reflection of the coaching processes at the club.

Bartlett was infuriated that club president Gary March declined to respond himself, calling his actions 'pathetic' and 'weak'.

Cameron made himself available for interview, using the opportunity to deny the allegations, and clarify their selection process.

"It is a transparent process. No line's been put through Kevin. I've known Kevin for quite a long time, and there's no way that I'd be putting him through some sort of token process. I have too much admiration for him," Cameron said.

"Once Kevin's put his hand up, he's become a live candidate for us."

"I know personally, I know now, there is no agenda against Kevin Sheedy."

"We will make the decisions we think are best for our football club going forward."

"Caroline's article is her opinion, not the opinion of the football club."

"He's a legend of our club, and he's a legend of the game, and there's no way we will treat him in a way that is disrespectful to him."

Thanks OE, well seems pretty straight forward and if we have 15 applicants and we want to go with a young coach I couldn't see Sheeds getting past the second stage. I think they will get him into the second stage out of loyalty but he won't be there in the final 3.... IMO, IMO.. :)

caro is a dog

march should quit before he is kicked out

Ummm a few questions:

1) Why is caro a dog?  Is it because she wrote an article you dont like?  Is it because she extrapolated from Sheedy being asked to be on selection panel that the club didnt want him as coach?

2) Why should March quit?  Is it because you dont like him?  Is it because you dont like the healthy financial state of our club now?  Is it because you feel we have too much off field stability?  Is it because he only puts in about 20 to 30 hours of unpaid work leading the club?

Cameron handled the interview well. Gave firm straight answers to KB's questions and made KB look like a dill for his carrying on beforehand. Too bad the media are more interested in what KB and Caro said than what the club has actually said ... oh wait that's because there's no real story here  ::).
