Gary March's response to Sheeds bailing out (MMM)

Gary March's response to Sheeds...

Asked on Triple M yesterday to respond, March replied: "That's a bit disappointing, I would have thought. I've always had a pretty open mind.

"You've got to understand the context of what I said there (in the pre-season interview). We had a contracted senior coach at the time. We were in no position to be endorsing other people."

March said Sheedy would continue to help the Tigers in an ambassadorial role.

"He indicated to me on the phone this morning that he was more than happy to help out with the club," March said.

"When I made those comments at the start of the year, Kevin had indicated to me that he didn't want to coach at that stage."

March said yesterday he was surprised and disappointed by Sheedy's withdrawal and his subsequent comments, but he did not believe that the attention surrounding Sheedy's interest — and now uninterest — in the position would distract the panel from finding the best person for the job.

"We know what we've got to get done and we've been really diligent about getting on with it and we have sought advice from some pretty good people who understand football and our guys are just full-steam ahead in the process," March told Triple M.

While Cameron and the selection panel are expected to interview applicants for the job this week, March said caretaker coach Jade Rawlings was a strong contender.

"He could be that appointment because he's already exhibited in three weeks that he's really growing into the position," he said.

March said he was confident that Sheedy would remain in his role as an ambassador for the Tigers.

Great response Gary. Though I am surprised you will let Sheedy continue in his 'Ambassadorial role'.
He's been anything but the past week, so good on you for attempting to bring the club closer together despite his petulance.

What does that mean, that Kevin actually knew of the comments March had made about Sheedy not being coach  ::)

Poor form by Sheedy to have March explain his comments to him yet he still withdrew.
That either says he doesn't believe March or he really didn't have confidence in his own ability
If it's the latter, he shouldn't have come out and bagged the club the way he did  :banghead

Yes, but Sheeds was not going to make any difference to our position
He knew that, that's why he bailed
He should acknowledge that instead of passing the buck onto others  :wallywink

The aura and legendary status of these old premiership heroes and on field invincibility is starting to wane to the point that their every word and move regarding footy is becoming so insignificant.

Sheeds has just becoming a sad bitter and twisted old man who still thinks footy owes him something. Sad he and some of his premiership mates have resorted to this but maybe its time for them all to shut up shop and move on. For their own dignity and the clubs well being. Could be a watershed moment in RFC history.

Kudos to the club for not digressing from their agenda and falling for this charade.
