10/2   24,675
18/2   26,808
25/2   28,826
4/3     30,159
11/3   32,053

We've been growing at around 2,000 members per week for the past month. There's two weeks until round 1 so we're on target for just over 36k by then.

Gotta beat Blues. We'll be 40,000 by Round 2 then

Quick story from the 90's. I was coming out of high school, parents just got divorced, I was going to uni and was hardup for cash so let my membership lapse for 3 years. Not 1 single attempt at contact from the RFC, not one letter nada. At the same time my bro did the same thing with the hawks except he let it lapse for 5-6 yrs and he received a bombardment from the hawks every single year, 5 years on! incredible. No wonder they started passing us in the 90's, sure they count their pets but they were doggedly determined.

Yep Tony we have been amateur in this area(and many others) for years.
Great to see the club improving and it will pay off.

Probably sums up that in the past we as a Club thought it was all just going to happen. Our membership grew quickly during the 90s. From about 7k up to 29k in 10 years (to 1999). We had more members than even Collingwood at that stage. It went backwards in the early 00s under Spud (down to 25k) and other clubs easily went well past us. The Club has improved in some ways (rewards program etc) but it still does some dumb things regarding memberships. It was ridiculously late sending out renewals this time around.

See in the Herald-Sun that the Roos are struggling big time to get members this year. They're still below 20k.

All part of the service  ;D. I don't post the membership image from the RFC site because it automatically overwrites when it updates. That's why Madtiger's post now says today's tally despite it being posted yesterday  ;). Posting the number means we can keep track of our membership at various times of the year for comparison this time next year and beyond. So not so cheapy  :wallywink.

Time to be decisive with the 'roos. No reason to prop them up any longer - the market only supports so many clubs. The problem for them is the attractive new markets have gone, and the AFL are unlikely to expand again any time soon. They've shot themselves in the foot and I couldn't care less.

Care factor about spelling. Zero.
