Is 3 years a bit long? Pretty poor history with injuries

Long term deals seem to be back in vogue thanks to Free Agency

But regarding Grimes, reckon it is the right call

Based on performance/upside I agree. But geez those hammies are dodgy

Can't remember him doing a hammie this year, only the knee issue.

The knee was earlier then. So how many times this year did he have hammy issues?

Not sure maybe only once I can't remember that far, and it was only minor. But considering his history. I'd be happy if it was 3 years with conditions :thumbsup

Well from memory that was the only hammy problem he had all season. So let's hope he's over it and he can be a big part of it next year.

His collision with whoever it was was commitment at its finest.

This bloke has really impressed me over the last month with his attack on the ball and courage. Doesn't shirk the issue at all and doesn't go to ground/try to play the man. Just goes for the pill.

Keeper for sure.

Dylan is becoming quite a footballer!  He's composed under pressure, excellent overhead, courageous to a fault, has versatility & toughness.  NEVER stuffs up in front of goal when harassed by a small forward (& if he does he rubber-necks the tackle upwards & gets a free for it   :shh )!  Loved it when he smashed Higgins & got up like nothing happened - there's never a short step from Dylan!   :thumbsup
Rance has been our defensive star (& rightly so) but lets not overlook Grimes & Vlaustin for their excellent contributions in defence.
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!

That just summed up what is required to win finals. what was so disappointing was that after that, which should have inspired others, to see hunt take short steps in a contest on two occasions and griffiths on one
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Tiger defender Grimes signs three-year contract extension
AFL.com.au
September 17, 2015

VERSATILE Richmond defender Dylan Grimes has signed a three-year contract extension, tying him to Punt Road until at least the end of 2018.

After a wretched run with repeated hamstring injuries and a foot issue early in his career, Grimes has put together two strong seasons to establish himself as a key part of the Tigers' defence.

The 24-year-old played 19 games this year, taking his career tally to 63 matches after he was recruited with the second pick in the 2010 pre-season draft.

"Dylan has become a very important member of our team, and we’re excited to see him sign on for a further three years," general manager of football Dan Richardson said.

"Not only has he proven himself as a player, but he is a leader on and off the field who has the utmost respect from the coaches and his team-mates.

"He has worked incredibly hard to overcome some serious injuries in his first few years, at just 24 years of age, his best footy is ahead of him."
