I reckon Reid could go to GWS. His brother lives up there.
And you may not think I care for you

CONTRACT discussions between Collingwood and Ben Reid have slowed as the impasse with Travis Cloke - an issue that is having an impact on the player and club - continues.

Reid, an All-Australian centre half-back, is out of contract this year and it has been speculated he could be the one player squeezed out or, more likely, open to a big-money offer from a rival club as the Magpies deal with a tight salary cap.

Would be a massive pick up. Great player is Reid.  :gotigers Get it done!

Ben Reid will not leave Colllingwood.  They would get rid of Cloke before Reid.  Don't waste your time or energy entertaining Ben Reid to Tigerland...
Too late with that warning haha!  :rollin :whistle

Caddy to Essington is a given.

The veruca's will have a fit if they don't get him this time.
Plenty of golden tickets thrown out of prams if he doesn't go there lol.

Nought dropped Edwards and he still can't get a game.

Advise you to go and reconsider the job that Blair Hartley actually performs for the club.
It is to find players who aren't getting a game at their present club but would improve the list at Richmond.

Think of players like Houli not getting a run at Essendon or Grigg not getting a run at Carlton or Maric not getting a run at Adelaide. All of them were getting overlooked by their clubs for players who virtually everybody outside those clubs thought were duds.

Guess what? Hartley saw underdeveloped talent and gave them a chance. They are now regular players for Richmond. Would you seriously dispute that Maric, Houli and Grigg are not in our best 21?

Let Hartley do his job. Whoever Hartley gets for next year I think he has deserved our faith based on present result and Lyons article shows most others in the AFL agree, despite your idea that you know better ahead of Blair's choice.
im shocked this thread is only 5 pages long when such an important aspect to getting ahead is being discussed.

good post by the way. now lets see. if hansen is say a 10% improvement on mcguane then it is list improvement nothing wrong with it as long as it is done cheaply. i call it value adding and we dont do enough of it.
if hansen doesnt kick on as we hope what do we lose. nothing we gain a 10% better player than the one we cut and we look to go thru the process again looking for a cheap better player than hansen.
sometimes you may have to go thru the process 3 or 4 times.  value adding as you go before you actually get a real good player.
imo the real key point in doing this is you stay in the nd with good picks giving yourself the best possible crack at  good kids.

just my opinion but i think we should have someone like hartley whos sole job is to go around the country and look at state league players like morris as well. who are not on an afl list or no longer on one.  to me there are so so many state league players you can draft who would speed up the value adding process.

I think Hartley actually does this at the moment. Where else would he have seen Maric and Morris if they were both his picks?
However the position is going to become even more important next year when we are looking at the mature players to set up our VFL team.
Jackson has said he is happy with his resources in junior recruiting so add to the resources under Hartley for mature players.
Note: VFL players required for 2014 will be matures from AFL, VFL, suburban and country leagues and also undrafted TAC kids.
Claw, I think the search should be extended well beyond state leagues considering that top players have been recruited as matures below state league.

by all means  i agree with that.
but dont think we have the resources just yet to cover all minor leagues woud be great if we could.
most if not all good young talent is channelled toward elite programs and state  leagues. the majority only really have one pathway other than tac and thats state league. lets adequately cover these leagues first before we do anything else.
