WAT, WP is providing a service that he's under no obligation to provide, and you're finding a way to be a douche about it.

Thanks for the report, WP.  Good to hear my boy Thommo's doing well.  ;D

MYOB, eff me is everyone on edge or what it was a joke eff this poo. :banghead
Maybe if your track record of douchiness wasn't so predominant, I wouldn't have things like that to say.

eff off idiot your track record isn't so hot.

I'd like to see 1 example of this.  Just 1.

Cant let it go can you, just proving it again.

Sounds like our new recruits and key players all played some sort of significant role today which was great. Even better is if we are all injury free and we can have a full selection to pick from for the game against Hawthorn next week.

Really pleased if Cotchin has come through unscathed.

Martin Cotchin Cousins Deledio could be the new Fab Four.

I'd rather not go down the "Fab Four" path again - it's a negative and damning example of why we have not been successful for so long.   :'(

I need to display some ignorance here. Who were the fab 4?

It's pre season Smokey. Let me enjoy it getting ahead of myself. Reality begins in 8 days. Most on here are acutely aware of where we stand as a footy club on field :thumbsup

I'm just glad Cotch has come through unscathed and Martin has not played a game but the signs are there. Just hope these kids live up to the hype.

Nope.  Started at Richmond in the mid-late 90's (circa Northey).  We signed our Fab 4 for ridiculous amounts of money on long contracts in the belief that they would be the foundation stone of our next power dynasty.  It used up far too much of our salary cap and placed inflated ideas of the value of each member's importance in their individual heads.  Ego's and power out of control.  Campbell, Daffy, Richo and I'm not 100% sure of the other one (Gale, Bowden, Knights?) but I know it had a long lasting negative impact on our list and culture.

I went down today. As others have said it was a quater game in which most players played 2 - 4 quaters with the best 22 blokes starting and the young blokes finishing.

The Fowards:
Riewoldt, Morton, Polo, Hislop, Nahas, King, Westoff, Taylor, Astbury and Polak made up the foward group.
Polak got to a few contests and took a couple of great marks. However his goal kicking is rubbish. Finished with one goal however seemed very slow.
Riewoldt didn't do anything to write home about in his 2 quaters. A couple of neat handpasses but thats it.
Morton finished with 3 all of which he kicked in one quater. Looked okay, but didn't do a whole lot
Polo also finished with 3 goals. However he worked into room well and looked pretty good up foward. I think this experiment will work
Hislop didn't do alot. Kicked one goal and missed a couple more shots
Nahas was also pretty quiet.
Westoff got to quite a few contests but is still very, very raw. Finished up with a goal or two but missed a sitter.
Astbury impressed me the most. Played at CHF and worked harder then anyone else on the field. Looks very good. Still skinny but I still reckon he will come on and play AFL this year.
Kingy snarred a couple of goals and was lively early. Faded away in his second stint
Taylor kicked a few points and took awhile to get into the game. Did a couple of nice things without having a massive impact.

Backs
Gourdis played in the last couple of quaters at stuff. By this time the sting was really out of the game and it didn't get down there too often and hence he didn't do too much
Grimes is a skinny lad who, like  Gourdis didn't have to do alot
Post started the game at CHB which suggests he could be playing round 1 down there. Looked good aswell. Had a couple of handy spoils and weaved through traffic nicely.
Rance played at FB against a massive unit. In reality Richmond dominated the game so now of our tall backs had that bigger roles.
Moore played well across half back. Looks big and really fit.
Conners started on the back stuff and was the most impressive player in the first quater. Used the ball very well. His impact died down for the rest of the game but was still quite solid
Edwards had a poor start to the game but was one of the better players in the second and third quarters setting up alot of the play of half back. Stuffed up a couple of things but then got the ball back
Newman played a solid game without doing anything too eye catching
Tambling played very well imo. Was one of the best on the feild. Today he was our most highly skilled player out there
Dea played half back when he was on. Looked pretty good in a couple of the packs and is a very nice size. By this time though i was pretty much worn out by the state of the game.
Webberly looks alot like Morton but skinnier. Was also okay.

cbf reviewing the mids. Bassically everyone else played other then Hicks, Griffiths, Jackson, McGuane, Foley, Thurstfield, Nason and Simmonds

Standouts: Tambling, Astbury, Polo, Martin, Cotchin, Deledio, Thompson

Dissapointments: Vickery, Browne, Graham (our rucks are in trouble), White (did nothing), Polak, Riewoldt, Westoff

In the end Richmond dominated Coburg. The major goal kickers went something like: Morton 3, Polo 3, King 2, Thompson 2, Dea, Westoff, Cousins, Astbury, Graham, Polak

number 4 was knighter. Incredible selfishness by all 4 players with only knighta and richo justifying their massive contracts.
Then along came gasper and holland.

I just got back from Craigieburn, and was reading some posts. One thing that MT must have missed was that Hislop kicked two goals in the first term, as well as Richmond's only goal against what was a howling (and very cold ) wind in the second.
I thought some of the most consistently good performers on the day were Polo,Edwards,Hislop,Cotchin,Deledio and Tambling. Polak had a lot of the ball, but couldn't convert effectively. Nahas did some nice things, and bounced up quickly to feature in the play again after getting ironed out in the 3rd term, and spending a long time on his back.
Of the kids:Dustin Martin did some good things, his field kicking spotting up teammates was a treat, and he looks good to go come round one.
Astbury looked very sure and caught my eye, as did Dea.
Although skinny and raw Westhoff  led and contested well in the air, and took one very strong contested mark and a whack in the guts for his trouble.
Overall we were very direct and mostly played through the corridor, which was the most pleasing aspect of the day.

Forward line still seems to need lots of work. polak and riewoldt leading the forwards to successful goal tallies- i cant see it to be honest. Griffiths and Astbury should be groomed throughout 2010 to take these roles.
