Both strong teams, should be a good game.

In light of the Cuz news, he'd probably miss.

Looks like Gus is ruck option #4 now.

No Tuck, McMahon or King - going to be tough for those 3 from here.

No Polo, Collins and Post. A little surprising.

White missing.

I like this team though.

Have they played each game so far?  They might be missing on a rotation basis maybe.

Effectively our round 1 squad including emergencies.

Agree smokey. This confirms a line has already been put through Tucky and Jordie and they'll be playing at Coburg this year until they're delisted. Kingy is suspended for round 1 (unless he gets off) but yep he'll be gone as well.

Interesting to see what we do with our rucks and FF presuming all of Simmo, Vicks and Browne play. Polly is being given first crack at FF but if he struggles again on Saturday and Vickery does ok at FF when he is down there then Dimma could go with all three rucks for round 1 and rotate Simmo and Vicks at FF leaving Polly out. Browne was good last week. It'll be hard to leave him out if he dominates again in the ruck.

Because they see him as our CHB and

Because he played his last year int he TAC cup as CHB  ;D

I actually like seeing him in the backline because he really needs to work on the defensive side of his game

Postie played mainly at CHB in the TAC Cup but he also played forward. He's a tall that can play at both ends. I don't have a problem with him being played at CHB for us but if he's not in the squad then either he is being rested (hopefully that's the case) or it seems others are preferred in our key defensive posts. Given the last practice match usually is a trial run for the round 1 line-up then it seems it's a case of the latter  :-\. As we have a hole in our forward line and need another tall to stand up (I don't see Polly as the answer) why not try Postie. Postie is part of our future long-term and needs the gametime for his development.

agree with this. with astbury and griffiths both injured and yeah most are going to say they arent ready anyway, but i disagree. they are both capable of playing as a third tall option  while they are not available i would be looking to structure up the forward line with with both post and riewoldt across hf and gourdis  at ff.

for this game going by the selected squads  i reckon   fletcher will likely take polak, pears gourdis, and hooker riewoldt.

i reckon essendon will also get needed game time into both  hille and laycock. they will go in with 3 ruckmen even though i consider ryder a kp.  with ryder  i think they are most likely to play him somewhere in the forward line.

their forward  structure  could go like this

gumbleton on mcguane, thursfield on neagle and moore on ryder. again terribly undersized  but should have a massive advantage with rebound and run.

it leaves ruckmen   on ruckmen in  simmonds on hille. browne on laycock and if paddy goes into the ruck vickery .

would play dustin martin on watson let him go head to head if watson does not respect martin he will get burnt because of martins disposal.

because we will probably now be missing both cuz and foley  i would bring  newman into the midfiels  along with cotchin. allowing us to put nahas  roberts and morton  next to the 3 tall forwards.

Don't mind that although I'd reckon we'll play Gourdis in defence as that's where he's been used during the preseason.

Goo then may get Gumby, McGuane on Ryder and Thursty on Neagle. Free up Moore as a rebounding defender. Forward line of Polly (vs Fletcher), Vickery (Hooker), Riewoldt (Pears) - Fletcher hasn't taken the best oppositon forward in yonks.

Simmo/Browne in the ruck against Hille/Laycock. Probably Vickery and Ryder will get a run too in the ruck being a practice match.

In the midfield we have the better class with Lids, Cotch, Martin but the bombers will have the experience and pbetter depth. Up to Jacko, Blingers, Newy (I'd have him in the midfield too claw), Thomo, Connors, Nason with Morton and Nahas pushing up the ground to share the workload. We'll probably bring in another mid into the squad with Cuz now out. Hopefully it's Contin. Test him in a game against an opposition's best 22-25.
